| | | Favorite RPG Of All Time Pick one RPG that has changed your life (or was just alot of fun) and tell us all why. Mine? Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. It has still been the most phenominal gaming experience in my life and showed me that there were more to games than using cheats to kill your friends in different ways (Goldeneye of course). It was the first of many times I have shunned the real world to be left alone with my fantasies of being some sort of great hero because never before have I been so sucked into a game's story. To me it is the crowning achievement of rpgs and will never be bettered. Thank god this game was made or I don't know if I'd have dreams at all.
PS. To the moderator who will eventually remove this thread because it has been done before I DID look and couldn't find such a thread. I totally know it's out there somehow and I missed it, so do your worst . |

| | | 1 - Baldurs Gate SoA. Still disapointed with ToB, though.
2 - Fallout II.
3 - Chrono Trigger.
With BG I "discovered" D&D. With II I've fallen in love with it.
Fallout is very good storyline, with very Roleplaying way to game.
CT is CT. Different, complex, hard, nice, totally good. |

| | | Chrono Trigger would probably be my favorite console Rpg too, as it was a great game but I didn't play it until years after it was released. Had I found it before SoA it'd be my favorite of all time... It's a shame that game isn't talked about more; it gets lost in the discussions of the Final Fantasies and KOTORs. |

| | | Fallout 1 and 2.
The design documents for Van Buren looked like a helluva lot of work was going into Fallout 3 before Interplay shut Black Isle down, because of financial issues. Bethseda will not come close to making a good Fallout game.

| | | The original Final Fantasy on Nintendo will always have a special place in my mind. My first role-playing game ever.
The BG series for bringing me back to rpgs and to computer games in general. Consoles just don't cut it anymore. |

| | | Torn between the Baldurs Gate series or the Fallout series.
None of these new hack n' slash fluffed CRPG-Lites come close to the old games in term of gameplay. |

| | | Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2 are probably my all time favorite RPGs. PS:T for its rich and engaging story, and BG2 for its combination of expansiveness, gameplay, and story.
Still, old console RPGs like Final Fantasy 2 and Dragon Warrior 2, have a dear place in my heart as being responsible for "hooking" me on RPGs. |

3.Daggerfall
4.KoTOR
5. Fallout 2
(These are in no paticular order just the order they popped into my head)

| | | I haven't heard anyone mention any of the Might and Magic games yet, which surprises me because I always thought they had a very dedicated following. I do, however, agree that they weren't as good as say the Baldurs Gate, Fallout or KOTOR game, so may not appear on this list. Any thoughts however? |

| | | Fallout 2 is the only game that has had enough power to alter the course of my life.
I always quote Fallout and it's jokes are permanently engraved in my memory, personal favourites are:
"Shoot him in the ass"
"There are decaf brands that are better than the real thing"
"It does nothing"
Sometimes out of boredom I'll do that weird "Use Animation" that looks like your character is typing on people or objects just to be silly.
~
Other than that the only other game that I could compare in replay value is Baldur's Gate 2, that game I've finished what must be 20 odd times by now.

| | I would have to say the all time number one RPG for me is Diablo II. I've invested so much hours of my life to that game over the years it is scary to think about
2. Fable
3. Kotor I
