Hi everybody - don't know if anyone can help but everytime i ask a henchman to leave my party and then try to get them to rejoin they just stare at me blankly and say "I work for another master now. I have nothing further to say to you"!!!!
I don't understand why they are taking it so badly - i read in a forum somewhere that this can happen if you don't have the item that they gave to you when they joined your party.
However, I have tried to re-recruit tomi (i have his contract in my inventory) but I just get the not interested anymore statement as do i when i try to re-recruit Dalean (i have his feather in my inventory).
I have tried moving the contract and feather to the first page of inventory (they were further down) but this made no difference.
Oh yes in case it matters I have both the expansion packs loaded and I have installed a patch 1.62 I think
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
sym
nwn Henchman Problem
Well - what you are experiencing is not "normal" behaviour form the Henchmen.
I've tried looking at their convesation-scripts, and it seems the behaviour you are experiences occurs either when you don't have their personal item or it is a different player asking them to rejoin.
However - as you say you do have their personal item (by the way - it dosen't matter which page of inventory it is on), which leads to the second condition (diffenet player asking them to join), which would not occur in a single player game - but should only happen in multiplayer.
Therefor - I think you are bugged beyond my help anyways - and I can only advice you to try and contact Bioware and see if you can submit it as a bug.
However, I don't know what chapter you are in, but the henchmen can likely rejoin in the following chapter, because "new" instances of the henchmen are located in that module.
Sorry I can't help more (at the moment).

Thanks for the response I am going to re-install everything and see if that makes a difference - I am running on XP home edition but the game box says thats it's compatable.
If this doesn't work I will follow your advice and contact Bioware.
By the way i,m only on chapter 1 in the prisons (and it's taken me weeks to get there!!!!)

Have reported problem to biaoware but they think it is a corrupt save file, however, I have done some more digging and believe the following is the problem, I enclose it here in case anyone else hits the same problem.
There are two ways to get a henchman to leave the party via the radial menu and via conversation with the henchman. I used the former method. After spending hours testing various combinations I believe that this is what was happening:
The first time you ask a henchman to leave your party you must using the conversation options and not the remove from party command on the radial menu.
When using the conversation method the henchman left, I was able to re-hire ok and then remove and re-hire as many times as I cared using either method.
If I used the radial menu the first time I wanted the henchman to leave then he would never rejoin regardless of what I did.
Therefore i suspect a bug in the radial menu remove from party option if it is used asthe first attemp only to remove a henchman form your party,
