There are instructions here to manually uninstall SoA - look out for the hidden registry key, it is often overlooked. Also, it advises how to get around installation issues. I would advise turning of the DMA on your CDRom to start with, it will slow up installation but will avoid the error messages. If that doesn't work, and you have 5 gigs of free HD space, copy all of the disks to your hard drive and run the installation from there. You can always delete the copied files after you have installed.
Good luck and welcome to Gamebanshee

Yeah, and you still haven't replaced it...
When you've uninstalled, first thing you should try is a fresh reinstall - as Ysh says, copy all the data files from the CDs to your HDD - it won't quite take 5GB, more like 3.5. Unless you're installing off the TOTSC disk and can set what you install with a "Custom" install, you'll have to edit your baldur.ini file and change all the paths at the top from "E:\CD2\" etc. to wherever you moved them to.
