Party friendly spells

Postby Claudius » Tue Jun 25, 2013 12:50 am

I'm about to do the Bruma main gate in a coupla quests.

What spells can I use in the chaotic battle?

I know: staff of the wurm (mages questline) can reanimate dead bodies.

If I get a heal other spell with a radius will it heal the enemies too? What about command creature? Are daedra creatures? If not then what happens, friend or foe, if I cast command humanoid?

Similarly to heal, what if I cast a target with radius shield spell or fireshield?
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Ha, I had to Google which city Burma was. Oblivion is finally starting to fade from memory.

- What spells can I use in the chaotic battle?
Some long term fortify skill/attribute spells you cast (on touch) on each warrior before the battle starts can be a good option. You have to be fast though, so chuck a couple dozen good magicka potions as well, so you don't have to waste any time. The timing is for the same reason critical. After or maybe during Martin's speech (I don't exactly remember how that sequence goes), but it's safe to still be casting it after the first monsters start to appear, since the first ones are easy.

Some Illusion AoE spells are good to break up the battle a bit. I'm.. forgetting which ones. Defrenzy humanoid or monsteroid or whathaveyou. Forget about paralyse, it costs too much.

Use touch-attack healing spells on your comrades. I think that so long as your level isn't too high, you won't have a hard time healing everyone up without employing extra tactics such as the ones above. But it is good to be prepared, as some of them have a little unique dialogue line after the battle (not much, but then again this game never had depth).

- I know: staff of the wurm (mages questline) can reanimate dead bodies.
I'm pretty sure you can only reanimate one at a time? Maybe not. If that's the case though, it will hardly make a dent.

- If I get a heal other spell with a radius will it heal the enemies too? What about command creature? Are daedra creatures? If not then what happens, friend or foe, if I cast command humanoid?
AoE healing spells will also heal enemies, just like any other spell effect. The rest I already answered. Kinda. I don't remember how most of them work. Best to check UESP.

- Similarly to heal, what if I cast a target with radius shield spell or fireshield?
Same deal. They'll all get it.

I think I used some sort of other tactic in the battle, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe I pickpocketed better and enchanted armors on them or something. I'll get back to you if I recall it.

Edit: Ah, I think I gave them all amulets that had a dispell 100pts constant effect on them. It means that they only suffer the 1st second of any magical effect cast on them. Very useful. It also applies to healing spells though, so all your healing touch spells can only be 1 second long.

I assume you mean the second gate, where you have to get a major sigil stone.

Invisibility(100% Chameleon is even better but that is soooo cheesy), from potions or spells and run like hell; you don't need to stop to fight anyone. If you do that and chose the right rout (prepare to jump across a gap in the bridge on the left, hint, hint) the time limit shouldn't be a problem.

If I've misunderstood and it's the first Bruma gate, where you have to show Burd how to close one, then simple, DON'T TALK TO BURD GO STRAIGHT THROUGH THE GATE. Then head for the sigil stone as usual; when you try to take it you'll get a message telling you you need Burd to be with you; simply wait for him to arrive. The reason for this is if you try and take him and his two buddies all the way through you're too likely to find yourself up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Burd is far too fond of jumping into lava and although he can't die, he can't escape from the lava either.

Oh, yeah that's a pretty good point. There are two gates. I was talking about the second one.

Hi, I was talking about the battle when you are trying to get the greater gate to open but you and your guards (allies), Burd, Jauffre, and Martin have to survive until the big gate opens.

It was a chaotic battle which made me panic and it could have gone better, when I came out of the big gate with the big sigil stone I think it was only Martin and Jauffre yet alive.

I actually completed the game! Only level 13 though, ha. I was strong enough for the daedroths, spider queens on the way. Mankor Camoran was pretty easy.

So Hoooraaayyy I beat a game ;)

I'm going to take a break and then run this same character through (the): thieves guild, brotherhood, and shivering isles.

@tricky, I stayed glued to Martin though occasionally slaying someone and I cast a 10 second fortify luck, shield, and regenerative (over time) healing.

@galraen, yeah I had meridias (daedric princess?) (the anti undead lady) ring which gave me 30% chameleon and I had 25 chameleon for 30 seconds. I just ran past everything. They saw me and followed me but I ran. Huge adrenaline rush :)

I'll be honest here, after the first run through I've always cheated and made Martin Essential for that battle. Strangely it's usually Jauffre who dies with me, no loss there as I've always suspected he was a traitor.

Sorry for misunderstanding your initial question Claudius. Fortunately Tricky pretty much covered it. The only other suggestion is summoning allies, just make sure they aren't ones that throw range spells; i.e. no ghosts.
