I love ranger/rogue. When I played through I took much more ranger than rogue - I think I was 14/6 at the end. My reasoning was as follows: - The rogue class mainly gives you access to some good skills and skill points, but not a lot else. The backstab damage is not that great unless you take LOTS o...

Luck gives you a bonus to almost every 'roll' the game makes for you: skill checks, combat, random treasure, etc. Unfortunately, I don't know how much bonus you get for every point of luck. My guess would be that 10 points gives you a +1 bonus, but it really is a guess. Suffice to say you need a lot...

Yes, absolutely. People that can summon sometimes use a low level familiar/pet/summon to the same effect. I was totally pissed off with how easy the single-player game was, so I tried to make it more difficult by doing everything possible to slow down my XP gain: 1. Multiclassed so that I got an XP ...

Here are the 'facts' that I know of, based on my own experimenting with characters in the single-player campaign: 1. XP earned is based on the average character level of the party, including henchmen, summoned creatures, pets and familiars. This is compared to the challenge rating of the opponents a...

I suppose many, if not all, fantasy authors owe something to Tolkein. Stupid thing for me to say really because even D&D owes Tolkein a lot. I suppose what I mean is that if someone did a LOTR mod then it wouldn't be too hard to take the same basic structure and modify it to be a different fantasy s...

I'd settle for a LOTR mod. Most of the stuff by Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan, Stephen Donaldson and others is based on LOTR anyway. Elfstones of Shannara had some original ideas, although I find it hard to get around Allanon (sp?) being so much like Gandalf. Hell, he even falls into a crevasse and th...

Morag Tong + Great Houses

I joined the Morag Tong and I want to do all the quests there. I haven't joined a Great House yet and I was wondering if any of them conflict with the MT. I'm leaning towards House Redoran. Hlaalu seem more stealthy like the Tong but then they also seem to be Imperial arse-kissers too. Telvanni seem...

I remember when I thought this game would come out in 1998. I remember when I thought that everyone would leave Morrowind for NWN and not come back. I remember when I used to loot crates and barrels because I thought money was hard to come by. I remember when I thought using hand-to-hand would be go...

My character is not what I would consider powerful, but I like playing it. He's a dark elf with no magic skills but lots of stealth skills plus long blade. He's a fairly weak fighter because he does not use block and wears crappy light armor (not got any glass armor yet). This means I have to approa...

Well, I wouldn't say that Neverwinter Nights sucks, but I would say that almost every game that people have mentioned in this thread is better. I like Morrowind and NWN, but the two games are nowhere near similar. Morrowind is first person, with stunning graphics and a non-linear play style (i.e. th...

I don't use heavy armor but I find it all the time.

Just explore some daedric ruins - no end of good stuff to be found in them. One tip is to keep an eye out for high ledges in daedric ruins (any ruins in fact) because there are often good items stashed away out of reach (use levitation).

Enter a console command to give you more health or something, just to get you out of that fight. It's cheating, but you have just cause.

Sorry I can't tell you what the command would be, but do a search for Morrowind console commands because several web sites have listings.

What about heavy flail? Anyone use that? It looks pretty cool in combat but it has worse stats than the greataxe, greatsword and halberd. Also: morningstars. Anyone use them? I was quite dissapointed to find that I couldn't equip one in my off-hand for some reason. I thought that a character with a ...

You get a sword, arrow and shield from the chest in the Peninsula district, along with a journal that explains exactly what to do with them. Each door has a chest next to it. Each chest has a note in it containing a clue about opening the door. I don't want to give too much more away because this is...

I've played quite a few characters in the single player game now, just to get a feel for them for the mod I am planning. Admittedly, I haven't played all of them through the entire game, just chapter 1 and 2. This is without henchmen by the way. I have to say the monk is about the easiest of the lot...

I found that henchmen detract from the experience, but that's just me! The spell casters are problematic because they die easily and they waste their spells. The fighters are better but I just think they make the game too easy. Tomi is just a pain in the ass. Linu is my favorite. She has the followi...
