NWN vs BG There were so many things I did not like about NWN. I didn't like the graphics, and the storyline didn't grab me much. I loathed and detested the levelled loot idea. Chests in every nook and cranny (why ?). You can almost guess what you are going to get in chests because it is geared to y...

creation and the first few levels Your skills suggest more of a generalist than specialist. these are harder to play at lower levels because you end up increasing all your attributes rather than one or two. I am running a very similar character, a male Breton. Major skills are Alchemy, Blade, Destr...

barren ground I went swimming around the whole circle of lake Rumare to find enough fish, when trolling the area that I was directed to found me almost nothing. I still managed only four proper fish and a number of lesser slaughterfish. I was very low level at the time (maybe L3). I did wonder if a...

postscript

In reply to how magicka works, I think a new thread is the place for that.
I would like to know the mechanism behind the way the cost (in magicka) of a particular spell drops as you rise in level/ability.

In reply to Dragon Reborn, glad you liked the formula.

[QUOTE=mordib] [color="SandyBrown"]I fear that you are overthinking this one. to work out how many extra health points you will get when you level up the oonly two variables you need to know are the amount you are increasing you endurance by that level up and what your new endurance wil be. so if yo...

formula If you are very comfortable with the creation of formulae you may be able to come up with a better one that expresses this. However, the way you get a bonus of 1 health per 10 endurance at each level is tricky to put into a formula, because your endurance is a variable, rising as you rise i...

an easier description My previous efforts to describe what happened to your health when you level up have proved to be needlessly complicated. Here is a much easier way to describe what happens: Your starting health is twice your starting endurance. Each point of endurance you gain over your starti...

That sounds right That sounds right. The calculation of mine would mean that levelling up when endurance is at 100, you would get 5 health per level plus 1 for every 10 points over 50 endurance ( = +5). This gives a total of 10 points per level. It's good to see that my calculation works at all lev...

What you think you know about health is wrong

If you go up a level, say from 5th to 6th, guess what difference will there be to your health increase, with endurance of 55 compared to 60. Forget what the book says. I have tried this myself and urge you to test it. Here are various results from levelling up from 5th to 6th level. 1) Endurance not...

Much ado about pillows

What is this thing about pillows in Morrowind. They seem to be all over the place. Is there some significance? On a similar track, I went up to Vas to help a bouyant armiger clear our some necromancer (Fighters guild at Ald Ruhn quest). Just on the shore there is a shipwreck. If you look around in i...

getting grand soul gem using console ?

How on earth do you console in a grand soul gem to your player ? I've seen some console advice, and tried to follow it, but nothing I try seems to work. I am at the stage where I have just seen my first golden saint, and "I WANT THAT SOUL !". . spoiler . . . . . . . spoiler . . . . I know you can ge...

The skill of speechcraft

no spoilers...

I know who the master trainer of speechcraft is, but you have to join a certain group before you can train with them.

Does anyone know who is the NEXT BEST trainer in speechcraft, one who has no house/guild limitations on who they will train ?

skills For me it is Heavy Armour, Speechcraft, Athletics. These enhance your Endurance, Personality and Speed. Some skills are more difficult than others to find credible choices in, and my chosen three boost some of the trickier ones. I always try to have all 7 skills (discount Luck, as no skill b...

Kagouti ! Ignoring the 'riddle book' answer (about what do you say to the man who will kill with sword or spell depending on whether you tell the truth or a lie) there is more than one way to defeat this. For example, suppose you say "There are 1100 Kagoutis in Morrowind at this moment" . Even if i...

I put a constant-effect jump to the maximum capacity of a deadric tower shield, which can take 225 magic IIRC, the most in the game I believe.

It certainly is fun.

A couple of ce heals make a difference too, even if it's just a handful of points.

Non specialist armour. dreugh helmet, cuirass and shield with Ordinator pauldrons and bracers (or is it gauntlets with them, I forget). add some basic bonemold greaves and you are there for medium armour. Heavy stuff is daedric, ebony, dragonscale in decreasing order of protection (and weight). What...

Finding exquisite rings and amulets is not so hard, you pick them up as you truck around. Much harder to find is something like an exquisite belt. I found a couple, but they are not common.
