Keep the posting going
Myself - I'm expecting Homeworld 2 and Warcraft 3. Yes just RTS's but looks like that's all there is at the moment.
Anyway, what are
you looking forward to?

I just saw a preveiw for "Lords of the Realm 3" and I can't wait for it. The original two I loved, and own, but they don't work on any new computers (Something about cannot divide interger 0 in the install). I'm also looking forward to WoW, and Warcraft 3.

Definitely Neverwinter Nights. My wife has promised to write a module/scenario for it, so I can't wait. I hope it is generic enough and simple enough to write modules for, that the net will be swamped with good modules. Writing for the Infinity engine seems like a lot of hard work...
Other than that, maybe a expanded version of Civilization (or FreeCiv), with an AI that doesn't need to cheat blatantly to win and with more Wonders, more diplomatic options, more science disciplines, etc. I guess the problem of balancing out gameplay gets exponentially harder with every new victory option, but a few less violent, less competitive ways to win would be nice. I often think of moving to New Guinea and get adopted by a tribe. Who's to say that they aren't the real winners of the civilized world?

Neverwinter Nights is properly the only game I right now really look forward to
Other games would/could be nice to, but nothing right now for me, compares to NwN

I'm also interested in NWN
Any new Civ's would be nice as well, though last week I got nostolgic for the original and tried to install it but it wouldn't run with Window's 2000. *sigh*

They probably did

My copy is a copy made from a friend a few years ago. I remember my first time playing that game, I didn't understand the 'conquest' philosophy, and stayed on my little island with my three cities, wondering why these other civilations kept bothering me
I have to run, but I would be interested in getting a copy

I was just working on that. But I can't get it smaller then 6,21mb, and this is with stripping a lot so I don't know if it'll work.

I assume of course that you aren't in fact discussing copies of programs not under freeware/shareware licensing

which is against forum rules...

Speaking of freeware, the free implementation of Civ is getting to be pretty good, runs under W2K (AFAIK) and can be found here. It's under GNU public license, so you can pretty much do what you want with it (source code is available).

Civ III
Wizardry 8
Master of Orion III
Europa Universalis II
Age of Wonders II
By the way, Patrician II, which is out now, is the best merchant/strategy sim I have ever played, and I can strongly recommend it. It's new.

Morrowwind--unfortunately postponed
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds--still like RTS games, but nothing has come out that compares to AoE series so far, though Starcraft series and Earth 2150 were fun
Fallout 3--if and when that ever happens
still very bummed that TORN was cancelled
Gothic sounds interesting
NWN--but I'm really wondering how much I'll like a multiplayer online game--my experiences playing RTS games online is that I'm wiped out after about 30 seconds because I have not devoted my life to figuring out how to quickly develop the towns and conquer people, and I don't want to! I like long single-player games with a deep story to get involved in that I can take my own time with, which is why BG rules...
The Matrix--esp. excited since Shiny is working on it, and I thought that Sacrifice was awesome and very underrated. As a matter of fact, I'd like to see a Sacrifice 2 with some NPC's--it already had a good story line and was non-linear.
Hoping that some games are coming out that will be cool that I haven't even heard about. Surprise us, developers!

@VD, I share your concerns about TORN and NWN. I'm not a big multiplayer fan, largely because I'm not a powerplayer. I've done really well in games with smaller environments, where people got to know one another, and RPGers were appreciated, but in the large mega-million massively mushrooming magnificent monolithic multiplayer things I just watch in dismay as kids run away, screaming demanding spell boosts, and following notes they've received of how to level their characters quickly.
Last I heard, Morrowind was set for Spring 2002. I think that's around the time for Masters of Orion III, so those will likely keep us going for a while.

I also liked Lord of the Realm, but I managed to work around this "cannot divide 0" problem. I wish I remember how I did it...

it was about half a year ago.
I also look forward to Lord 3 (didn't even know it was on the way, so thank you Aegis) and of course NWN if it ever gets released.
