1. If you could move permanently to another place, wherre would you move and why?

I would move to New Zealand because of the amazing scenery and the social climate. The only problem is that there is no possibility of doing the type of research I'm doing in NZ, and even if I had some US $30M to build a lab, there's a worldwide shortage of people who can run the technical equipment.

2. If you could live in another culture for, let's say 1 year, what would you choose?

I'd spend one year with the berber people in Morocco, living in the High Atlas mountains in the winter, and the Sahara desert during summer.
Then I'd spend one year with the inuit people in North West Greenland.
Then I'd spend one year with the nomad people living at the steppes in Kirgistan. (Former Soviet Union republic in Asia.)
And finally, one year with the tribes in Papua New Guinea, you know, those who live in huts standing in the water on wooden pillars. (I once met a white lady who had lived there for 2 years.)

1. Simple, England. Why? Hmmm... gee, now that's a tough one, I'd say because of this brown haired blue eyed girl I know who lives there

2. Any technologically primitive tribe would be fine with me. A culture unmolested by technology and worldly influence. I think the experience would be something else. Some of the Aborigine tribes of Australia are particularly interesting.

On a semi-related note, my father actually grew up in Papua New Guinea. His father owned a gold mining company there. The stories he tells are amazing.

Living in another culture for a year: Holland. I shamefully admit that this has nothing to do with learning about a new culture, but because I haven't been back to the Nederlands for thirty years, and Flemish is (to me) a relatively easy language to pick up.

But if this were about new, different cultures, Iceland leaves me curious. It's relatively temperate and has a big urban center (a must, given my asthma), and from all reports, the countryside is beautiful.

Texas, for two reasons. 1.) My girlfriend lives there. 2.)It's Texas!

2. If you could live in another culture for, let's say 1 year, what would you choose?

I'd live in Japan and experience it's culture for a year.

A private island, out in the South Pacific. Where I won't have to deal with any stupidy, but my own. Then invite, all good friends for the sun and Guinness.

I would spend a year in Northern Italy, where my Grandmother's from.

I would spend a year in Sweden, ski the Alps.

Year in Romainia, hike around the Transylvanian Alps.

I would probably move back to Colorado, since I complain about missing it all the time. Though in terms of multi-cultural experience, I would consider the British Isles. Wales has always held a strong fascination for me, as well as Scotland and Ireland. I would stay away from the big cities and focus on the small communities. The archaeology would be fascinating (though I am hardly qualified, since my specialties lie elsewhere).

2. If you could live in another culture for, let's say 1 year, what would you choose?

Costa Rica, or Highland Guatemala. Again, the archaeology is wonderful in these places.

i wouldnt mind moving back to france i liked living there.

I have always wanted to have a good look at all the continents before i burn forever in hell. i havnt been to africa, south america and the south pole so i any of those would do. i would also like to take a closer look at china
