Their should be unity with USA

I believe there should be unity with US for an effective strike against terrorists. We are getting reports that some European countries (not UK) are getting cold feet. Even in Australia mny country) the support is only 50-50.

Whats wrong with people. If another western country got hit they would be screaming for help from the US. It seems people want to feel safe but only if ohter countries do the dirty work.

I think Germany and Japan owes the modern world a stand against terrorists.

Notice how the Arab countries are not uniting in their biggest chance to attack the US. The arab countries are not all stupid and they dont all support violence.
When push comes to shove the arab countries dont come together for the sake of it.

What we need is unity and not be so chicken.
Who wants to live in a world and be scared of being terrorised!

What do you think ?
(keep it rational)

One more thing. In some of these Islam countries there is a terrorist element where they ae hell bent on destroying the western world without discussion. In fact the bin laden guy has said he wants the whole world to be Islamic. (These morons must be stopped and I think there is a touch of envy about them)

The US will get support like no one else before ever had.
Our chancellor even statet that if the US wants it, the role of german soldiers in this conflict is not limited to logistics only.
Under normal circumstances it would be political suicide for any chancellor to announce something like this, but most germans see america as their big brother and protector and are eager to return the favor.
If Schroeder ( our chancellor ) would make a retreat now, THAT would be political suicide.

Btw i nearly forgot.
I am german, and i owe the world nothing, nothing at all.
It really makes me sick of everytime hearing such bull****, i have to be humble because im german, i owe the world something because im german.
What the hell did i do ??
My generation had nothing to do with WW2, we are no nazis goddamn.
We pay more then every other country (the US includet) to nato when there is a war situation.
Everytime someone wants something of us we crouch humble up their asses, without even geting a thank you for it.

I agree with Jodmos about Germany not owing the world anything. Japan doesn't either. Saying that they do owe the world something is a bit racist, whether you mean to be or not.

We don't know this - the goverments of said countries have said that they condem the terrorists.
But if it comes to an attack on ei. Afganisthan then it is highly unlikely that many of the muslim countries will actually back the US.
Even i`n Pakistan, wich have said that they will allow US the use of airspace etc. there is a majority of islamic people - and many of these people support Taleban and Afganisthan. The goverment in Pakistan is not very secure, and with them being a nuclear power, one could imagine the following worst case scenario:
The US uses Pakistan to launch an attack on Afganisthan, the people of Pakistan revolts inserting a new president, and fundamentalistic Taleban - they use their newfound power to launch an attack on India - volia "nuclear war".

Futhermore we know that Iran and Iraq will not support an attack. And how the general population will side in the others is a high uncertainty factor.
Futhermore a country like China would also be a wildcard in a possible attack, because nobody knows how they will view this.

I think many countries getting cold feet as you say, is simply a moment of calm thinking - I also think that the responcible should be punished severly - but if we look to afganisthan one must tread lightly, or we could risc a large new war.

Terrorism must be stopped, but how?

I for one feel uncomfortable with the concept of placing troops into Afghanistan. The death of OSB will only end up portraying him as a martyr.

Furthermore, has anyone truely thought of what will happen after America is satisfied with their offensive. Terrorism breeds off the hate of one nation for another. I fear that the final American plan regardless of how successful it is, will end up only causing more problems.

I meant that the governments of Germany and Japan should be looking to take a stand (it looks good in the eyes of the world).

I sympathize with the argument that the average person does not have to owe the world anything. Most of these people were born after WWII and of course had nothing to do with it.

We in Australia are in the same sort of position with out Aborigines. We did not attack them but they blame us for what happened 200 yrs ago. This get annoying.

:)

Why only Germany and Japan? - I'd say that it would look better if China; Russia and/or Middel East countries took a desicive stand.

And it would look even better if all the countries of the world stood up and united together into complete unity against terrorism and completely removes terrorism from this planet for ever, but it ain't likely to happen, at least not in that way. Besides, Japan is too busy with their plot to gain control of the US economy through badly dubbed anime and manga, then over through the US and become the rulers of the world.

Pokemon is at the bottom end of anime, barely able to be called an anime. I'm talking about Sailor Moon, DBZ, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, etc. etc. etc. You know, all the good stuff. ;) :p :D *watches the Sailor Moon DVD she paid $30 for*

<looks over shoulder> Japan taking over the US economy is just a front for the aliens who have been consolidating their hold over the UN ever since they landed at area 51, but you didn't hear it from me...
