Killing Emmerich... I lose Ranger & Paladin status!

I lose 3 Rep points when I kill this dude, and therefore lose my Ranger and Paladin status(es?).

Is there any way to boost my Rep so I can get my grubby hands on that longbow of his without losing my characters?

I even tried killing my Ranger and Paladin, but they still lose their titles. :(

I read in a walkthrough that somebody tried it with a Paladin and the Paladin didn't fall.

couldn't you export them kill him and then include them into your party again?

Yeah, that's about all you can do. However, if you're willing to forego the bow, you can get lots of XP for an Emmerich-related quest.

I already got the werewoplf quest solved, if that's what you mean. I wanted to kill him after that XP. :D

Basicly, since your greedy and this is an RPG, you deserve that they fall. Also, reading the manual would provide you with a solution, if the killing of Emmerich just lowers your reputation. Rangers should keep their reputation above 6, IIRC, and Paladin above 8, IIRC. If the killing just makes you fall, swallow it.

Thanks for that helpful post.

That's what you get for wanting to murder innocent NPCs for their worldly possessions. :p

I don't even know what you can do to raise your reputation. It's very much a hidden part of IWD, as opposed to BG.

I don't know of any other way to get the bow, even if you manage to kill Emmerich "legitimately" while he's a werewolf (by stunning and killing him, or handing out so much damage he doesn't have a chance to run away. The bow doesn't show up anywhere if you kill him in werewolf form.

Eh, I'll just have to go without it. No big deal.

The problem is my FMT, who I consider my main archer, is still using Messenger of Sseth, which I got in Dragon's Eye (it grants an extra attack, which I find extremely useful. The description reads "extremely fast").

Oh well.

My post was helpful, since it pointed out that you need to keep your reputation on a certain level. I think you're experienced enough to know that you can donate in temples to raise your reputation. :) Ofcourse, I maybe mixing up BG & IWD.

I think I tried to donate in the Easthaven temple a long time ago, didn't find a way to do it, and gave up on the idea (I was going to try and kill the elf in the inn for his stuff).

You can't donate to temples in this game. I'm at a complete loss on how to kill this guy without penalty.

I don't know if this will work, but can't you charm him and send him off on a suicide mission? I can't recall if there's any combat in Lonelywood.

I don't know if I could even get him past the door.

Maybe I could summon a demon after casting protection from evil on all of my party members. But since he goes invisible so quick after being attacked, I don't know if it'll ever work.

Demon summons? In IWD?

I thought there was a set of armour that allowed you to summon a demon like in BGII. It doesn't... my bad.

You might be thinking of Vexing Thoughts, though that's not exactly summoning a demon.

Make sure you save before trying THAT particular experiment, as summoning the demon destroys the armor. If it doesn't work, you've lost yourself a darn good piece of armor for nothing. Even if you don't want to use it, it's still worth tens of thousands of gold at the store/temple.

Did you try the export/import method? Yes, some would consider it borderline cheating, but I really don't think there's a way to kill off a protector of the woodland and loot his twitching body without it being horrendously evil.

If your concern over gameplay integrity trumps your greed for the best longbow in the game (by far), well done. If not, so what?

I hate to resurrect an old thread but is there any way of curing Emmerich? I have a nauseatingly good party and don't want to kill him.

If there is, it is probably mentioned in the walktrough here at GB.

There is. Once Emmerich admits (happens when you've fought the werewolf or asked talked to surviver of his attack) that he's probably the werewolf you can ask the innkeeper to help him.
