Personal Crystal

Something strange happened... I can't seem to get this crystal any further Light-aligned, despite me having Mastery in the Light Side. It stays "glowing very faintly."
I've talked to Kreia several times about it, even after leveling. She doesn't offer to attune it any further.
I'm lvl 17 and just finished Dantooine. (My first planet.)
What's wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Are you going to Kreia with the crystal in possession but not installed in a lightsaber?

Aye, the crystal is out of the lightsabre.

The trick is to pay attention to what Kreia says - "Should your power increase" blah blah blah, meaning you have to level up and get an attribute increase. Try again after you've been able to improve one of your attributes.

Personally, I think this just means a general level up. I think it was every three. Anyway, I guess I'll just have to wait and see then. But this never was a problem in earlier games.
Then again, what would that have to do with my alignment? That's where the problem is. She also says "Whenever your resolve should change..." But my resolve it already maxed out... :(

How about this: Get your alignment very low, then talk to Kreia, then get your alignment all the way light side again, then talk to Kreia again.

It's even good for getting influence for some dark side party members. :)

I hate Darkside in KotOR. It makes me sound like a moron. Anyway, just some DSP to drop my alignment a bit and then some LSP might solve it, yes.

I picked up the personal crystal when my character was level 14. Kreia upgraded the crystal at levels 16, 18, 20 and 24 (not at 22 which was not what I expected). Currently the crystal says "glows moderately" which, I believe, means there is one more upgrade possible. Whether or not I get it before the end of the game is another question.

My problem is, that the crystal gives the "Neutral" bonuses, as opposed to the "Lightside" bonuses. I'm fully lightsided, and this never was a problem in previous playthroughs.

The game was designed to have on extra planet worth of XP. It was never implemented, and the crystal's level requirements were never adjusted. It is impossible to reach those level requirements. I asked Team Gizka about this some time ago, but it isn't being restored because it would take too much time to rebalance the entire game for just one object.

As for the mastery bonus, are you sure you have it? Do you see the little mastery sign next to your character as well? If that is the case, I have to ask you if you made any previous attempts at realigning your crystal. Mastery is a separate bonus next to the level requirement. Perhaps you already gained Mastery, but you can still gain some more levels.

After playing the game three times, I'm pretty sure I can distinguish a Mastery bonus. :) Yes, I'm fully Light-Sided, I got all the sparkles behind my character on the status screen and I have the stat bonuses. (+3 WIS for being a counsular & +3 CON for being a Watchman, IIRC.)
I can still gain a lot of levels, I still have to do Narshadaa, Korriban & Dxun/Onderon.
The point is: in other play-throughs, the crystal gave me the appropriate Light-Sided bonuses, which scaled with level. The crystal glowed "very brightly". Now I get different bonuses, which also scale with level. The crystal "glows faintly". Yes both times, I was just as much Light-sided.

BTW, bad points for Obsidian again for scrapping an entire planet and not rebalancing the things dependant up it.

Add some DS through the console, update crystal, add LS, update crystal. Maybe it will reinitialize.

I'll try that. Damn the bugs in this game. If it was a bad game, I would stop playing it at.

I'm pretty sure that how 'brightly' the crystal glows is related to the level it has been upgraded to. Iy has nothing to do with whether the bonuses you are getting are Light or Dark or Neutral. I always play full Dark, and my crystal also starts out glowing 'very dimly' but as I level up it gets brighter, and when I use exploits to get to silly levels of experience it glows 'very brightly'.

i find that offensive the dark side isnt moronic it simply involves gaining from the weakness of other and i will admit they didnt get this accuratly correct in this game because u just look like a sadistic maniac, when you should really be more manipulative and cold

but on a side note i had this problem aswell have you tryed killing the hissis in the cave untill you max out your levels

It's not meant to be offensive, but it reflects adequatly what kind of feeling it instills in me. You hit the nail on the head, though: the Darkside you get to play in KotOR is the frothing berserker kind of evil. The stereotypical monster.

I agree... it wasn't well done, especially when you consider that the most successful and evil Sith Lord ever was almost never direct, but almost always manipulative and secretive - I refer of course to Darth Sidious.
