in nwn multiplayer you do not face an end boss in creatures you simply evolveing you creature(people have made Photosynthetic norns!!)

How do you know you don't face an end boss in NWN - there is a single player campaign.

Let's see - all MMORPGs are pretty much based on evolving your character. The Diablo series is 90% like that.

@Quark: This is a general message to you. Do not open old wounds and start that Diablo stuff again. Last time you did, it resulted in insults, and arguments from and too many people. A discussion or debate is alright, but don't purposly try to start a fight.

Because he said in NwN multiplayer - there will most likely be one in single player.

Well for open ended games - Elite, springs to mind, but that is not excactly mulitplayer Damed I've spend at lot of time in that game

And yes there is plenty of MMORPG and MUDs on the net, just search for them in a search engiene.

Lessee .... don't know the websites, but here's some other free online games to try:

Faldorn (heard it's BAD)
Legend of Mir (going Pay-to-Play later this month)
Elemental Saga (had huge PK problems when I played, my friend tells me they're fixed now)

Many Astonia players also play Utopia - it's a strategy game, though, and runs in cycles. If you don't start at the beginning of a cycle you're in big trouble, other people will annihilate you.

craig, do you mean "unlimited" as in you can create your own content after you finished the campaign made by the developers?

If you mean it that way, you can try Real Time Strategy games which include a map editor and create your own maps. For RPG, the only game I know that will let you create your own content that are in development are: NWN, Dungeon Siege, Arcanum is going to have one, but no idea when.

I'd love a Creatures in RPG style...
