Problem with activating the Construct (possible spoiler content)

Here's the deal: I got the rune-inscribed piece from the gem mines (and if I recall correctly I got a yellow quest message), but when I go to Grobnar and tell him I've got some parts for the construct, he says "Oh my, this bla bla bla!!!!!!" but the Construct doesn't seem any more lively... and I've already given him the other two parts. I check my journal and says that I still have to find the runes, but the piece ain't in the inventory any more... Any ideas on how to activate this damn thing??
Small Note: I've got the game saved before I handed over the rune, so don't tell me how to re-aquire it, just how to make that blasted gnome use it. Thanks in advance folks.

Did you already try adding it to your party by going to the world map exit of the Keep, where you can change who's in your party? Also, did you give Grobnar the book from the library?

Yeah, I tried that, the Construct's not in the available party members... but which book from the library do you mean? The Golemcraft Tome? I think it vanished as soon as I told Grobnar I had a few pieces for the Construct the first time. Still got the Glowstone Water and Rune piece though... Should I give all three components to the gnome? (If yes, I've really got to start looking for that tome...)

Did you check Grobnar's inventory? Sometimes the items are in HIS inventory, but the game only checks yours.

So, in case I can't make it activating the Construct the proper way, is there a cheat or something to activate it? Or is there a way to add The Ancient Art of Golemcraft (that I seem to have misplaced) in my inventory?

OK folks, my mistake... There was something I wasn't doing right... I actually managed to activate the Construct quite all right now. Thanks for the help (or at least the good intention).
A small piece of information I aquired during all this by accident:
when Shandra died, and Ammon got her stuff, he also got a magic bag I'd given her that contained all of my potions. However he also ended up carrying the same potions in his inventory, meaning that I had twice the same potions I had before. I don't know if this "Jesus trick" will work at all cases, but it feels good to share...
