Okay, I posted this sometime back on the Baldur's gate 2 forum, but this may be a more appropriate place for it.
My room mate played the Pool of Radiance series some years ago. He got stuck in one of the endings offered by pool of darkness were he travels to this island to fight all these high level monsters that kept on appearing every five steps in the dungeon. But he got to a part on this island where he he encountered a barred door that ask him a question. He tried to find an answeer to that question but was unsuccessful. Unfortunately he does not remember the question since it was so long ago when he played the game. Does anyone remember the question and the answer to get by this door on the island in Pool of Darkness? He has been trying to find the answer to this for many years.

Ooh, this was many years ago. I don't even remember the door
I suggest you post this question in the SYM area, many people who post there are old CRPG:ers

Yep those were the good old days. I played pool of radiance and curse of the azure bonds, but never played pool of darkness because my xt computer wasn't able to run it with memory of 640kb and CGA monitor.
I'm patient maybe someone will know the answer in the future. Besides it has been so long that I believe my room-mate has given up on finding the answer to the question to that door on the Island. But maybe he'll get lucky and someone might remember...

@Lorsadan, if he can remember at least the name of the game, he may have luck on this site: http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/. They have walkthroughs and FAQs for quite a few older games, as well as new ones. Good luck.

thanks for the site address. I checked it out briefly, but did not look to closely so I did not find a way to post any questions on that site. Oh well..I guess he is out of luck.
But the name of that game with the island in the end and the door with the riddle should be "pool of Darkness" the third game in the pool of radiance series.

You might try doing a Google search on Pool of Radiance. I seem to recall that the games' authors (not its developers) had put up a website with links.
