Opinions on this game

Post by Flagg »

Let's see if I can start some sort of discussion....

I have always worried that PoR would suffer from having to compete with NWN. Now that PoR has been delayed to apparently September and NWN to somewhere in 2002, this apparently won't be the game.

What is everyone's opinion on PoR?

@Flagg, PoR still may have problems, since Torn (using the Lithtech 3.0 3D engine) is currently scheduled for the holiday season. It's just my opinion, but if I were UbiSoft, I'd hump it to get PoR out in June--September at the latest.

PoR looks quite good, from what I've seen of it. Not having played the beta, I don't have your intimate knowledge of it, however. Could you tell us if the game is as apparently non-linear as BG2? And do characters in your party come with their own quests, and make decisions interrupting your own actions?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

@Fable, I am afraid that the most of your questions have to be answered with a no.

There is no interaction between party members. In this aspect the game is more like Icewind Dale. The game is not as non-linear as BG2, but it is also not as linear as Icewind Dale.

Most of the development time has apparently been put into making a good engine and this succeeded fairly well. The game looks very smooth graphic wise. :)
