OK, I've read several walkthroughs and they all say wait in the Mystic Emporium for up to ten days before re-stocking. Well I've been waiting some thirty days now and he still hasn't re-stocked.

My silly questions are. Is there any other way of getting these damn gems??
AND do I really have to go through this game as a vampire??

Go check out other branches of the mage guild in all Oblivion's cities. They should have an adequate supply. If you need to fill them up, I can't remember if that is needed, cast soul trap on big creatures such as deadric warriors and then make sure you kill them before the spell expires.

No. Who told you that?

Oblivion is all about freedom, and I don't think you are forced to do anything at all in the game if you don't like it.

Thanks for the reply. I should have put the second part of my question a different way. What I meant was, how do you stop yourself from becoming a vampire in the first place. I picked up mine when I went on the Azura quest and had to fight five of them, (one at a time of course) but I came out of the cave with it. :(

If you've fought vampires you should check your diseases, if you see the vampire disease you can drink an potion of cure disease. This doesn't work after you're a vampire though

And for the soul gems, check the chorrol mage's guild, they have an display case full of them

I missed the warning that I had picked up the disease for over two days and after that I was a gonna. :o

The disease will not take hold and make you a vampire unless you sleep after being affected with it. Another way to counter it is to go to any temple and get yourself cured. Make sure you keep an eye on your status to avoid being infected again.

Thanks Loki, so far so good. All I am left with now is to find some Nightshade, none of the stores seem to have any, so I'm out in the scrub looking for the stuff :)

The best way to avoid the disease altogether is to use silver arrows/a fire dmg bow & go atop a wall or some type of structure. This way you can pick 'em out w/o having to go toe to toe, thus possibly contracting the vampirisim. :D It also makes good target practice.

That is if you don't run out of arrows or weapon charges first. :p

My whole time going through Oblivion, I've only contracted vampirism once. This was by going down n' getting dagon's razor. Fortunately, I had an earlier save  But I never really knew there was a cure at the time. So I jus reloaded & 'snuk' n' backstabbed 'em :D I should add they all dropped quicker than flies

One major setback fer me is I'll have to remake a character :(
(Which's s real motivation drain) I still have some long time questions about leveling up casters, but that'll have to be another thread.
