A Few Issues from a concerned gamer ;)

Lo, the baldurs gate series in my view are the best RPGs on the market to date, mainly because of the great coding done for the gamer.

Anyway, a few concerns over NWN :)

1. Ive read u can import your character from BG2 (or was it BG1 ;) ). Does anyone know if this includes Throne of Bhaal addon, or TotsC.

2. If any of u have pld Vampire the Masq. online you would see the abuse players did with their creation tools, arming their characters to the teeth then pitting them against each other.

My major concern is this: will the NWN Scripting and GM tools allow players to level their characters like crazy, and give custom items for completing simple quests such as "fetch me some bolts".

I know the hardened D&D players would never do anything remotely like this, but the "power gamers" out there would, and it may destroy the fantastic possibilities that NWN projects.

Thx for reading and I hope u can help/agree/disagree/spread some light/anything with my comments :)

Set your mind at ease.

First, forget importing your BG characters, at least into the on line game. The pre-3rd Edition characters just won't translate. That message was inserted into BG2 before the game designers had a chance to look at 3rd Edition D&D rules.

Next, in the on line games, the official NWN character vault keeps strict tabs on your character. You may be able to use him in another on line campaign, but you won't be able to re-import him. The vault checks your character to make sure he doesn't have any enhancements that he didn't actually get in the game.

Most of the other on line campaigns have similar restrictions. If you want to find a power game world with lots of PK and uber weapons, you probably can, but I think they will be the exception rather than the rule.

Check out the World of Argyle at www.lonerhino.com/argyle for a good example of a role player's world.

When you import your character - you retain the "straight" class (no kits) and the name of the character.
You do not carrie over any stats, skills and levels.
Basically this would be the same as starting a new character and naming him as your old.

Does anyone know the latest news on the litigation between Bioware and Interplay.

I read Desslock's view on it, and it got me worrying. If Neverwinter Nights is published under an open D20 license, then it would even have to change names.

No official news at all. Bioware continues development, though. My guess is the suit will be settled about the same time the game is ready for publication, some time in 2010. :D

Lol dude, dont joke about it being out that late, hope for it to be out as soon as they can get it out without having to rush and **** up this game. But with the DM's, they could just make a super simple NCP and have it give massive exp?? couldn't they?
