I noticed it too, I hate it, liked the old layout better.
Oh no, am I trolling again?!

Nah, bunny rabbits can't troll. Though trolls sometimes rabbit.
Moving this to GameBanshee Discussion. With a redirect, so you get two-forums-for-one, except with anchovies.

If bunny rabbits can't troll, doesn't that mean that trolls rabbit bunnies?
Anyways, I like the layout.

I added one extra tier to the forum's organization. The forum list was just getting too long on the main index, and I felt it would make more sense for new members to see a categorized view rather than an overwhelming number of single forums. It also puts more of a spotlight on the forums that were toward the bottom of the list and makes it easier to see the "What's Going On?" panel.

Why the passive?

Just as good in active, no?
As a side note, I also liked the previous lay out better. This one makes me click each and every category. Unless I can get it to show the long list again?

I also preferred the original layout but I can understand the reason for the change. Might I make a suggestion? Now bear in mind I know nothing of programming so what I ask may be a monumental task. I really couldn't say...the only progamming I was ever able to understand was Basic on my Commodore 64...now that's old school! How about drop down menus for each of the different categories in question? Gets rid of clutter but keeps checking the forums easy.

I agree with the idea presented by rmemmett84...
Yes, I understand the reason why the new layout has been introducet, but it makes keeping up with some forums rather hard.
For example, with the old layout, it was easy and fast to check if there was something new in Fallout -section. Now, I have to go to the RPG subforum every time to check IF there is something new...

Also, the "newest reply" highlight loses relevance. Most of the time, said thread titles are rather general and don't mean much without the title of the game they're referring to.

Does the "Forum Jump" dropdown at the bottom of most forum pages help in this regard? There really isn't a good way for me to add another set of dropdowns under each category name on the main index, as it would require changing the vBulletin templates and would mean that I'd have to keep all the links up-to-date by hand.

I stumbled upon a vBulletin modification that allows me to display a tidy list of sub-forums on the forum index. Hopefully this helps better navigate the forums with the additional tier.

Just when I was getting used to the new layout, you changed it again. Hehe.
Buck, I usually don't comment on things like this, but if you want our feedback, I'll let you know how I feel about the latest changes in a few days after I've gotten used to them. I mean, complaints about something right after it has changed usually don't mean anything besides, "We don't like changes, waah, waah!!" (Which is exactly my own reaction because I'm a big baby.)

The latest layout looks a little cluttered, the most previous one was a bit better IMO.

Alright, I've added some extra space between each sub-forum name on the index. Does that help? Or did you prefer when all the sub-forums were listed in a single column below the category name?

Personally, I liked the single column idea. But, no need to change it based on just my opinion. You might start a poll or something, having pictures of each version of the forum that you can set up for us.

Actually, I liked the "original" best of all: one big list to scroll through. However, this is personal, and as long as there are fora, I'll be fine.
Edit: Oeh! I like the stats-column.

Thinking about it... I feel this present configuration is the best yet. The two lists make for less scrolling down, and give you a much better "at a glance" view.
This is particularly helpful combined with the nifty little golden new post icons. Though, I'm also looking at this from a modding POV, now I can take a quick look and almost immediately see if any of the forums I moderate have new posts.
