Ok im in act III right now, playing a lvl 17 (or 18 by now?) tiefling.

I like to use the bracers that give +4 to AC and Haste since i hate running slow, but whenever equipped i get a yellow text saying that i have items or spells which add the same thing and they dont stack.. My AC is stuck at 26 and id really like to get it up.

I've got plenty of money and gems to craft anything really, i just dont know what. I'd like to keep my bracers if at all possible, but could i get a suggestion on the best armor setup for me at this point in the game? Including cloak/boots/etc. Thanks!

Hi Dorito (sounds tasty ),

When you equip an item that grants AC, the game checks for the type of AC that is granted. There are a few different types of AC like armor, deflection, natural, dodge... and the thing is, they don't stack on themselves, except dodge. What this means, is that if you wear a suit of armor and bracers of armor, both grant AC (armor); hence the warning you receive. What happens now is the game will take the highest value granted from AC (armor) and add that to your effective total.

So if say you wear:
#1. Leather Armor +1, which grants you +2 AC (armor) - one from the suit itself and one more from it's magical enhancements.
#2. Bracers of Armor +4, which grants you +4 AC(armor)

You get an effective increase of +4 AC.
Note, however, AC (dodge) adds with everything, even itself... so the above applies to everything else except AC (dodge). Of course, AC (dodge) is not applied if you're rendered immobile by any means.

Note also that your DEX bonus also adds to AC, but the amount you add is capped by the armor you wear. Heavier armor lowers the cap, so you get less added even if you have a high DEX.

The different types of AC add up between them, so to get a high AC value, simply find the highest value of any AC type and use them!

I won't elaborate more on the details as that would make a manual out of this thread...
I do believe that the manual has an explanation, so do read it up if this still doesn't make sense. And if you're still confused after that, feel free to post more specific questions, that it can be answered more directly than with this.

Oh, and frankly, AC 26 is nothing to be ashamed at, at all. It's pretty good overall, and increasing it from here would require really, really good gear.

Since you're a theifling, I'm guessing you'd be a Rogue with high DEX. If so, I'd suggest not wearing armor and going for the Bracers of Armor, as high as you can find/forge. Then get Boots/Belts that add to Dex to push it up. Not counting other sources of AC, this alone, if you manage to a Bracers +10, and +8 to DEX belt (I believe that's the highest you can get, but if you want to be sure, get spoilered and go look for a item crafting guide), nets you 28 AC. Note that wearing 2 items that grant the same bonuses almost never total up, so finding an item with a straight up high value is always much better.

I thought bracers only went up to +8 and i would have to make them?

Kinda dissapointed that ill have to give up my bracers with haste .. and wearing no armor just seems unreal to me lol.

At this point of the game i can pretty much find or make any armor, so to be more specific i'd ask for a full armor layout Names/stats on armor, have the gems to make any kind of armor really, and the money to buy it, too. Just need to know what i need

I won't say that this list is the best since I know that there are people who are more entralled/smart/put-into/wisdom-base-knowledge people who know more about the game.

Here goes:

Amulet: Amulet of Natural Armor +5

Armor: Get an armor that gives you your maximum DEX bonus and enchant it with an +5 enchant. If you got over an +10 modifier then simply get an monk robe and enchant it with and +5 enchant (or simply buy an robe that got an +5 modifier). If you don't have the 'Use Magic Item' skill then take Sand's robe
(oh noes, how evil!) and enchant it with an +5 enchnt.

Belt: Belt of Agility +8

Boots: Boots of the Sun Soul +5 (Requires 'Use Magic Item' skill).

Bracer: Bracers of Armor +8

Cloak: Your could get an 'Cloak of Protection +5' if your able to find one, I were not.

Ring: If your not able to get an 'Cloak of Protection +5' you could get an 'Ring of Protection +5' (they don't stack; as far as I know).

I'm sure that I've missed something, might help a bit thou.

I think these don't stack. Unless there's a bug with robes, they should both provide AC (Armor).

Right you are. They should both provide AC (Deflection).
