I bought Deus Ex: Invisible War like last year sometime and it ran fine on my old pc (although had to run it on low graphic :S )I now have a new pc but the game wont work!!! Everytime i try to start the game it come up with "Conflict with Disc Emulator Software detected"
I know this is to do with the game's protection software clashing with an emulator on my machine...but heres the thing.... I HAVEN'T GOT ANY!!!!
I have only ever had 3 emulators on my machine: DosBox, Visual Boy Advance and CDiemulator. But all of these have long been uninstalled! I did have the zip files for these emulators still in my documents but i got rid of those too to make sure it wasn't that... but still nothing! I deleted all my roms also!
I tried disabling my Anti Virus also but still no luck!
I think it may have to do with regestry files still on my pc or something, apart from that i have no idea!!
please can someone shed some light on this!!!!
cheers x

Well.. weird. Don't bother calling in on support, Eidos won't help anyone anymore. So, you might want to try cleaning that registry of yours. Either use a tool that scans it for dead entries (there's a good freeware thread here in this forum where you can find some cleaner tools) or do it yourself by using the registry tool. Now follows a quick guide.
Start - Run - type 'regedit' (enter)
Use the search function and search for related words like names of the companies that made that emulation software and of course the names of the programs. Delete keys (and, whenever you can be sure of it, entire folders) only when you're 100% certain they have something to do with the emulation software.
Backup the entire registry before you do something. This is important. I've done this often enough to know when something can or shouldn't be touched. If you're not really sure if something should be deleted, leave it alone. Only remove it when it's really obviously related, like when you find a Dosbox key at \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DOSBOX. You get the idea. As long as you really did remove that program from your computer, there's no harm in removing it from your registry as well.
But for the love of god, backup your registry.

still no luck! i deleted all the old emulator regestry files as you said. i even managed to find some old emulator files id forgoten about such as "ISOBuster"... but still no luck. either ive forgoten previous emulators that ive installed or its just a lost cause! but thanks for you help anyways!
i think the only way round this would be to reboot my pc and start a fresh... but i dont wanna play the game THAT much! lol
its so dumb how ive actually bought the game but i cant play it because of copy protection!!!! ironic or what!?
any other suggestions would be muchly apreciated!
is there anyway round the copy protection at all does anyone know? either by using cracks or by software?
cheers

No one here will really endorse that last line of questioning. Just so you know.
Well I know a bit about virtual drives. There may be something going on with the disc drives. Where is your current drive at? Some games insist that you play the game with the disc in the same drive you installed it from.
Note that emulation software can cause the order of drives to be changed a bit. For example, you install the game from the D: drive. In using emulation software later on, D: could have been changed into E:. If the virtual drive D: is removed at a later point, the real CD drive could still be at E:. The game might mistakenly think it's being started from the wrong drive.
That's the only other thing I can think of. My best guess is still a faulty registry entry though. DX2 is especially notorious for taking bad care of it's own registry, as the various community texture packs can cause all kinds of problems if they're not uninstalled correctly before you uninstall DX2.
You seem to have removed them manually. Perhaps a registry cleaner tool can be a bit more thorough.
Edit: Did you try reinstalling the game >after taking care of the registry entries?

didnt think so, i know most websites frown against stuff like that but i thought it was worth a shot.
yea, i uninstalled the game, deleted as many emulator reg files as i could find, deleted the deus ex 2 reg files aswell (just as a test), re-started the pc, installed the game annnnnnnd...still the same problem!! grrrrr!!
i agree, i do believe that its still the reg files. I'm going to try and use software like you said, see if that helps. are there any specific pieces of software thats you recomend for the job?
btw, i only have one disc drive and its deffo reading the disc as if you try to play the game without it, it tells you to replace the disc.
thanks again for you help!

Not really, I'm used to working with the registry manual. I haven't used a tool like that in many years. That thread link I posted earlier should have something for you. The first post by Dragon Wench contains a most useful free software list.

nope, got a reg cleaner tool and still nothing!
its ridiculus! you shouldn't have to do all this to play a game!!!

lol
Im still open to suggestions though! i really can't see what im doing wrong here! I have NO emulators installed on my PC, and the reg files are all deleted. are there other files that may effect the game? such as key gens etc? Coz i know my brother has had at least one key gen on here at some point BUT i didn't think they left reg files?
any help or suggestions not yet mentioned would be awesome! this is doing my head in! but im not gonna let it beat me!
