Welcome to Gamebanshee.
Battling spiders is a lot easier if you don't get caught in their webs. So a key part of your strategy should be to prevent those webs from springing up in the first place. Have a Thief in your party detect and disarm the traps. If you don't have a Thief in your party but you have a Druid or a Cleric, use the spell called Find Traps and avoid walking into the traps.
For general tactics, Fighters can drink potions of haste, strength potions, and potions of heroism to improve their attacks. Your entire party can shoot oncoming monsters with missile weapons to kill or injure them before they even reach your party. Leading the monsters to a narrow path or opening that only lets in one or two at a time will let you concentrate all of your attacks at on one monster at a time to make faster kills. You can also lower the difficulty setting if all else fails.
Good luck!

VonDondu's advice is spot on if you have a thief. If this is your first time through, I would strongly recommend having one. If you do not, there are various tactics that you can use,e.g. oil of fiery burning, potions of explosions, fireball, wand of fire, these to be used when you are just out of sight, and should be followed by a strategic withdrawal. The spell freedom of action and potions of freedom of action could also be used. The situation that you are now in is the reason for their existance.Spoiler, highlight to read If you are where I think you are, you will probably be finding a sword soon which has the same effect as the ring of freedom of action. Unfortunately for you, you don't get it until you have already defeated the spiders! There are a lot of them though it is not necessary to fight them all. Your problem will be finding out which ones you need to fight. I wish that I was in your situation of not knowing. The game is more fun whilst you are still learning.Have fun, and clobber those spiders good and hard! There is a ring of freedom of action which you will not get for a while.

If you get stuck somewhere just do something else instead.
The area east of larswood is unimportant for the game, so you can leave it and return later when your party is more experienced and better equipped if you want.
There are surely a lot of easier areas waiting to get explored by your party.

If you are east of Larswood, kmonster is right. If you are in Cloakwood, you will have to find some way through to the north, having done or not having done the quest given to you there.

thx for reply
spiders are all dead
i had khalid lure them away then tank while the other attack with missiles
actually i have stratagems mod installed so those giant spiders cast web non stop and they attack all in group but your tactics work nonetheless

Just for future reference, you can get a ring of free action by pick pocketing a gnome/halfling seer at the entrance to Ulgoth's Beard - I usually do this before going to Cloakwood, even though I leave the actualt TotSC quests til Chapter 6 or 7

For the spiders in Beregost I have my Paladin protect himself from evil and walk in alone. I hacked them to pieces and they never touched me. At the time I was at level 2 or 3.

Really, spiders are evil? I thought all animals were neutral. I usually have Imoen hide in shadows and sneak into the little room on the right. She can blast the spiders though the doorway while they can't reach her. This can be done at any level, but at lower levels she needs to take lots of arrows since she will be blocked from getting back out until all 4 are killed.

The problem Langtu had was that he is playing with the stratagems mod which makes the battles rather different.
In Beregost I use similar tactics to you except that I vary it according to my party. SPOILERS Highlight to read.
A cleric can cast sanctuary and then kill them with a sling from that same room. A mage can cast invisibility and use a sling. A ranger can hide and use a bow. However if you have mods the battles are very different. If you have Tutu, the spiders are smaller and can get through that door. They are also easier to kill. I actually preferred the original as far as that battle is concerned as it encourages you to use brain over brawn.
