Knights of the Nine: Shield quest...help please!

I am in the fort where the shield is located. But I cannot seem to find the switches to lower the drawbridge or open the gate 
I think it must be in the lower room below the drawbridge but I am completely stumped. Any guidance would be so much appreciated!
