Major Bug Act 3 ... Help Needed[SPOILER??]
Posted: Thu Mar 29, 2007 6:07 pm
I am in Act 3 and have forged the Sword of Gith and I want to add Sand back as a member of my party. I add Sand at the path out of Crossroads Keep area and Sand is running in place. I right click on his portrait to select him and then at soon as I left click to check his inventory the game goes into a hard freeze and I have to force shut down of my computer to get out of the game.
Error Message in Application Log is: [ nwn2main.exe Application Hang, Fault bucket 377493665, Event ID 1001 ].
I also get the following:

version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

Sand started this about 11 days ago but the system never hung. I tried reloading my current save but Sand was still always running. This originally occured on one of the portals as I exited one area and entered the Crossroads Keep area. Sand was stuck on the portal running in place. I move my party down the road a little and then I right clicked on his protrait and ordered him to guard me. Sand moved off the portal and joined the party but he continued to run in place.
I knew I had a problem that was going to cause trouble if not fixed. I then reloaded an earlier save with Sand in my party and finished the quest I was on. Sand was working like he was supposed to and I removed him from the party and added Ammon as I started on the next quest. I thought Sand was okay and working like he should since he stopped the running at all times so I worked several quests and finally got to the where I had forged the Sword of Gith.
I am now stuck because no matter what I tried in order to add Sand to my party every time I tried to access his inventory or have him cast a spell the game hangs and I have to power down my system. There is absolutely no tech support from Obsidian and you can email Atari until hell freezes over. This is not a problem for their support forums because it is beyond the scope of most game problems. This is a problem for the game developer but it is quite evident that Obsidian does not want to hear about any more bugs in their program since they have released the final patch and they passed the support to Atari quite early.
Last year I had to contact Blizzard about a D2/LOD problem and I got excellent support. Is Blizzard the only game developer out there that actively supports it's products even if they are on the old side?? I am looking forward to "CnC 3"!
Thankfully I have been interested in Astronomy, Cosmolgy and several other sciences that I can enjoy my time on the internet without playing computer games that have never made it passed the beta testing stage even though you might be playing them. That effectively makes you a Beta Tester no matter how much you paid for the game.
I have carefully used the rule of thumb "expletives deleted" otherwise this thread would probably appear on a blue background. "Expletives deleted" is my attitude to Microsoft(who could never get anything right..try IE v7 or Vista and I am not forgetting XP) and to almost all game developers who are no better than the big 'M' Corp or Bill Gates.
