Vista and DebugMode 1

Vista and DebugMode 1 does not work, at least on my computer. It seems to work, but nothing happens; no items are added, no numbers are changed. And after you use it, the screen will not print PAUSE or UNPAUSED. You have to LOAD a previous game to get your dialog box back. Any suggestions or explinations? THANKS.
