Does alignment matter?

I've been hearing for years that you should never be a gray jedi. Does it really matter? Does anything different happen when you're neutral, rather than being light or dark?

The one time I tried to play as a more or less neutral character...I found that the story line and choices the game made you take, tended to push your character towards one side or the other.

Some events can only happen when your character has reached a certain point along the alignment scale... I believe Visas Marr won't show up until you've reached 25% in either Dark or Light.

Also, if you're not about 75% Light/Dark you cannot gain a prestige class. The tomb on Korriban is another issue, you might even need Mastery to gain access.

I do remember not being able to enter the tomb because I wasn't dark enough, and I exhausted all ways to get darker on one of my files... Has anybody beat the game as neutral?

Never beaten it as neutral, but I have gotten different endings based on alignment. also, alignment seems to affect how your character looks. If you get totally evil you look like Sion.

I've taken the game as neutral. No prestige class allowed for them. Also, no cave on Korraban. But the cave is a side quest & does not need to be completed to finish the game. Also, endings about the same as light / dark.

The only other thing I can think of is the 'your crystal' is less powerful then choosing a side.

Actually, IMO the neutral crystal is the only reward for taking the neutral path... that one gives a lot more stat boosts, plus quite a score of force immunity. Especially when using double lightsabers this crystal is absolutely awesome.

The crystals for half-dark and half-light are worst though. They are like the full-light and full-dark crystals but miss out on one bonus. (mass criticals and damage vs. dark side)

I have, It's basically the same as light side but without the prestige class and Korriban tomb...

Where did you come by this crystal? The last time I played this game, I have never encountered this crystal before.

I believe he's referring to the <player_name> Crystal, when set to neutral.

He was. Anyways, for kicks:

Light Side Mastery:
STR +5
DEX +6
WIS +7
Attack +3
Damage +5 Light Side
Damage +10 vs. Dark Side

Dark Side Mastery:
STR +7
DEX +5
CHA +6
Attack +3
Damage +5 Dark Side
Massive Criticals +3-30

Neutral:
STR +4
DEX +4
CON +5
WIS +5
CHA +4
Attack +3
Force Resist +24

(you can easily check this using the console to add the items - I'm unsure about when you'd get a 'neutral' crystal though... perhaps somewhere between -10 and +10 or so)

So if you end the game neutral, you don't get any special movies or items except the <your name> crystal? Also, what happens if you kill all the jedi masters, but you turn at least 3/4 good by the rebuilt enclave?

In my experience Visas Marr sneaks on the Ebon Hawk the moment I land on any planet after I leave Telos.
It might be possible that it will be 25% Dark or Light, but never checked that, I am quite dedicated to either side when I wish so might be possible.

I also think that the 75% for prestige class might be true, but I was 100% Light at lvl 12 and was not able to get prestige class yet.
Could be level restriction...
It could be a constant coinsidance but I always seem to get them at lvl 15 no matter my allignment... :(
Anyone has this problem aswell?

The tomb of korriban I was about 90% dark and I came out 100% dark...
Or 70-75% light and almost neutral...

You can only get a prestige class at 15. No matter how strongly aligned you are.

(I always forget to talk to Kreia at 15 and end up taking it at 16)

You can finish the game at neutral after taking all the bonuses from light/dark side. I finished as a neutral Guardian/Sith Lord on one occasion. I also went into the caves as light sided. :p

Visas does come after the cutscene where she leaves the Ravager. It is triggered when you are 25% to light or dark side.

So what happens if you stay neutral, and never get Visas? Will it make the game unbeatable?

No, you don't NEED Visas to finish the game, really.

Of course you dont. You dont need anyone. You are POWERFUL enough alone.
