While going through the dredge in the wheel clan mountains Virgil has picked up (off one of the spiders?) some kind of incurable poison. Whatever I do it just keeps coming back (a pentagram flashes on him and then he is poisoned again)... I have even tried letting him die and then resurrecting him! Is there anything I can do or is this the end for Virgil?

Are you sure he picked something off a spider? Way I see it, everything points to a hexed item which poisons the wearer. That would explain the pentagram and raising the poison level. If he's wearing any unidentified magical item that you recently picked up and gave it to him, get rid of it.
