Powergaming: Druid 13/Cleric 17 or Druid 17/Cleric 13?

Looking for a real power build here. I'll use a female Drow (no XP penalty), and am looking for a blaster (I'll either be a Cleric of Lathander or Talos -- each has powerful elemental attacks).

TIA

Eh? Why mix two major spellcasting classes? If you're looking for sheer power, wouldn't it be better to take all or most (20+) of those levels in just one of those classes to take advantage of level-dependent benefits?

The Lathander cleric makes a better back-row bomber/healer type, while the Stormlord is better used in or near the front lines because of the nature of its domain spells and special powers (exhibits: Destructive Blow, Gedlee's Electric Loop, Lightning Bolt, Shocking Grasp). The druid is arguably better than either of them in a strictly "elemental bomber" role (but markedly poorer at healing) because its access to certain really good spells (e.g. Static Charge) is not limited to domain access, so you can memorize more than one per rest period.

Which one you choose depends on how you want to play the character. :)

Edit: If going to HoF (have any of your parties made it there yet? ;) ) I see the Morninglord as superior to the Stormlord because it's easier to use the Morninglord's AoE from a protected position and the Morninglord is also a better healer.

Druid17/stormlord 13

But I'd rather take 19 or 20 druid levels.

what about Druid 19 Cleric 11? You would get extra heal spells from Cleric levels and still have almost all the druid power.

I've never been a huge fan of the Druid, but if there's a lot of power to be had by playing one, I'll gladly go there.

The reason I'm combining the two classes is because bonus spells from WIS are calculated twice (once for the Druid class, once for the Cleric). I figure I'm getting more "bang for my WIS buck."

I chose level 17 because that's where Clerics and Druids get their first level 9 spell. I figure it's best to get the most out of the next class after that, but I might be wrong.

I think the power of a Druid is mostly the weidu shapeshifting mod (and extra spell mod).

Otherwise take a cleric or a mage/sorc.

You might get more spells in the numerical sense, but I question whether that makes the character more effective, because the character setup is weighted toward having many low level spells and fewer high level spells. Considering that one Heal is worth more that 10 Cure Light Wounds, IMO, I don't think this character will be as strong as one with more of the levels in one class or the other.

You're not going to cast every spell you have memorized before resting, anyway, particularly in HoF. I'd take a lvl 30 aasimar Morninglord against this character any day of the week.

.

Even if all divine L9 spells are quite useless, I would suggest to have at least one main cleric with L20 to L25...

...adding monc (AC) and pal (MR via sword) levels this a quite tough tank, capable to keep close to your main tanks/decoys to strengthen the lines and support theam with healing.

For an additional cleric L15 to L17 is more then enough!

INHO the druid is best combined with the bard as a pure party-support PC and diplomat until you use the weimar mod!
