The effects of feeding on mortals

What exactly goes on in the mortal's world when they are being fed upon? It seems like feeding should breach the masquerade, yet somehow they just end up in a state of stupor. Are they aware of what happens to them?

Feeding on mortals can be hidden in many different ways by the Kindred of the World of Darkness.
As some of the loading screens suggest in the computer game, superstition is one of the most powerful tools for vampires to keep themselves hidden from mortal society.
When being fed upon, humans fall into this dazed, stuporlike state and waking up... what would you believe? That you hit your head or that a creature of the night just stole some of your blood by sinking their fangs into your throat? Maybe you reach up to feel your neck. No wounds. [vampires magically seal the wounds without a trace with their tongue, after all] The explanation you'd make up for yourself would probably be that someone attacked you, hit your head.
If the vampire wants to bother a bit more, they can steal their victims' wallet, or why not hit them in the head so that they wake up with a decent head ache?
Mortals are 'aware' of being fed upon in that it's not automatically erased from their mind when they wake up [unless you have yourself a good deal of dominate in the PNP version], so if the vampire is stealthy and smart enough, it's often no problem.
Humans are just as easy to deceive as they are to kill, right?
Also remember, that even though the world of darkness bears many similarites to our own world, it's bleaker, more dangerous and darker than our own. Humans are more paranoid, more unstable and more frightened than they are on the streets of reality.
hope it helped
[i'm new here, hello!]

Not only that, but assuming you're a guy and the vamp is one great looker. Would you rather believe that this hot chick had her way with you in a dark corner of a club and left you feeling half-dead but real happy, or a walking corpse drank a pint more than what the Red Cross usually takes somehow without leaving a mark?

i think that would apply if we assume you're a gal and the vamp is one great looking lad as well, eh?
[or whatever your sexual preference might be!] [not trying to be overly finicking, btw]

This forum's for discussing the computer game, V:TM. If you guys want to discuss the universe background, I'll move the thread to PnP Discussions. Or if you just want to spam things up, I'll move it to Speak Your Mind--just let me know which.

sorry for the OT

Not a problem. We just have places for OT stuff, and for background stuff unrelated to gameplay. Having a thread in the right place makes it easier to draw the people you want. And I can leave a redirect, so the thread still gets a little traffic from the original forum it was in.

i think the suitable thing to do would be to move this to the PnP discussion, since the initial question is indeed about the World of Darkness over all.

Works for me.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Interesting, thanks. That answers a lot. There must be some slight domination going on, even with vampires without the skill.

It's supernatural.
The same thing happends with the bite marks, they don't remain.
I think that the bite itself makes the victems forget, like it contains an poisen to make you forget.

The vampire can, if he or she for some reason would like them to remain open, leave the bite marks as such. They make them supernaturally disappear by licking them.
And the victims don't automatically forget, why would you be asked to be so cautious if this was the case?

There are disciplines that make victims forget, and clever use of your vampiric abilities should make feeding a piece of cake.
