What's the best (non-random) melee weapon?

Just curious. 
I haven't played HOF so can't say there.
Theres good axes (and a good one)
Theres good two handed swords
Even shortswords give a +5 that ignores armor! Its available early if you have the battlesquare rewards no work mod. Its still available eventually as a reward for BSquare whenever you manage to clean up that if you don't have the mod.
