Scaled Monsters (not talking about their skin)

I remember in Baldur's Gate II I could go through the Underdark ASAP and when I got out and went to other areas the mosters were much tougher than I would have encountered earlier in the game (Adamantine Golems in place of Iron Golems for example).
Does NVN2 scale the encounters based on your character's level in the same way? I was thinking of skipping a bunch of graveyards and caves in the hope of going back later and fighting tougher creatures for more XP.

No, they don't. It is a static adventure. However, I have noticed, if I bump my characters up a few extra levels in the beginning so that I can breeze through the first half of Chapter 1 things seem to change a slight bit. It seems as though occasionally I end up with an extra enemy or so per encounter. Nothing major, simply a very slight alteration.
Although, this isn't every time, and it could be based not on level, but on the class I have picked instead. As, certain classes find it easier to beat certain types of monsters, the game may be programmed to load certain amounts of monsters for certain classes.

Could be wrong but I seem to see them scaling the xp points of mob kills based on scaling.
If your a higher level going to an area like the Swamp Cave late in chap 1, you seem to get less xp for them.
I guess a good way to check is to try setting your toon to level 20 at the start and see if you get the same xp per area, though I am not that bored, yet.

You get scaled XP, but the monsters don't scale upwards based on level at all. The question presented was if you are a higher level will you get tougher levels if you skip an area, then go back to it later on when you are stronger. I've run an 8th level character through the Swamp Cave and the Bandits Camp and I didn't notice a difference from my 5th level character doing it at all in what I encountered. It was much easier with the higher level character, so they didn't scale the encounters based on my characters level at all. I just got less XP for everything I killed is all.
