Sand in Act II (possible spoilers)

Does Sand need to be in my party as I try to exonerate myself of the Ember massacre in Port Llast? I mean, will I miss plot points without him, because I just can't stand the bastard.

I keep wanting to call him Snape ...
Don't know your answer though, I kept him just in case, and ditched him when that story arc was done.

in the title when giving away potential game spoilers with regards to the storyline or quests, as requested in the sticky at the top of the forum (which you should have read). I've changed it this time, but in future you will be expected to include it in your titles when it is needed.

I wouldn't try without him as he is in your party for that specific reason to help gather clues and evidence.
He not only questions the people you encounter in the investigation but he explains what you need to do next and why things are important.
He also is the only one I am aware of that can identify a body found and method used to kill it.
So yes you need Sand, but am I 100% sure, no, only 99% sure.
