Wizard and Sorceror weapons (spoilerish)

I currently have a Wizard and I am searching for good weapons, somehow it seems there are no nice wizard staves. Luckily I have the use magic device skill, which allowed me to use a monkstave with +DC or something on it. However are there any weapons really good for a Wizard or Sorceror? OR perhaps some weapons with stats on them that even if you only cast spells you can "use" for the nice stats which increase your survivability.

I am currently in act 2 and I do not need exact locations as in this and this boss will drop this for you, I just want to know for example, this vendor has a nice weapon for you or look out for these type of weapons. Also a clear answer like: Yes there are good Wizard and Sorceror staves out there but only in later acts, will suffice. I just want to know if they are out there or possibly if I missed anything on a vendor.

I do not know if there is any quarterstaff that is good. I mean if they give ac, then they give deflection ac, which is useless, since you will have it from your ring/cloak. A good wizard weapon is the Wizard's Ally, but I never found a good sorc weapon. I used a scimitar of speed with my sorc for the haste and that's all.

First of all, if you are an elf, your options open up for what weapons you can use a bit. That leaves you open to longswords, rapiers, longbows and shortbows.

Second, why not use the item database on this site to search for quarterstaves and see what is in the game? To answer your question in very simple terms, there are 8 staves made specifically for wiz/sorcs that are in the game, and all can be viewed in the item database.

There are some decent daggers around too - check the vendors in Port Llast and Blacklake, and the guy in Owl's Well.

If you have the pre-order versions you might be in luck at the special vendors.
If not you can do the following which I put in spoiler protection since at least some people consider it cheating

Select your character
use the ~-key
type DebugMode 1
type givefeat 1764
type givefeat 1765
type DebugMode 0
use the ~-key
You now have access to all 3 the special merchants (and a discount I doubt can be matched be not continously investing in the apraise skill)

End cheat
