I'm playing against the city watch and I've progressed to the part where you have to assassinate the traitor who informed the city watch about the weapons shipment. At the opening of the quest it is suggested that you should avoid bloodshed and that Neeshka would prove a good asset in that regard.

So that's what I set out to do. I went solo mode with Neeshka, snuck up all the way to the second floor on my own (the rest of my party must have taken a staff entrance, since they also suddenly turned up besides me - I thought that was funny) where I run into an NPC who starts talking to me/Neeshka regardless of being sneaky. It's scripted, there doesn't seem to be a way around it. After that I can't really stop things from turning into a bloodbath.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this supposed to happen? I really can't tell from the game.

I think the only difference between the "sneaky" and the slaughter way are the soldiers stationed on the ground floor. What I can definitely asure you is that you can't solve this quest without fighting. And that's probably also the reason why the rest of your party is teleported next to you when you enter the 1st floor.
