Hello everyone, i'm new here.

I've just found my old Fallout 2 game, and wanted to play...
Installed it (Humongrous instalation, of course), patched it, all fine.
Problem is, when I try to start the game, I get an error... *Couldn't find/load text fonts*
I've tryed with and without compatibility modes... and everything else I could think of, but no succes...

Does anyone knows how to fix that problem ?
'Thanks !

Welcome to the GameBanshee! :)

A hint at the beginning: Search -function is your best friend ;)

And the answer to your problem can be found in the thread called "Technical Problems with Fallout 2? Check here!"
Problem: "Can not load Font" -error
Solution:
Reinstalling with humongus should correct this, as removing SP 2 if you are using WinXP
If this does not work, then see below:
It seems that the problem is caused by corrupted master.dat file. To get around this, you must uninstall the game, delete manually all the files which were left by unistalling (one of those files is that master.dat) and after that install the game again.
If you do not remove the files manually, then the corrupted master.dat file stays.
I believe that the corruption is somehow caused by Children Patch.

So, you are probably experiencing the corrupted Master.Dat -file problem.

I actually know of the *search* fonction of the forums, but seeing as the solutions didn't work for me, that I just reinstalled my windows (xp), AND that it works on neither of my computers (one with SP2, while the second doesn't have it), I am really at a loss of what the problem is...
(I have not used the Children patch either)
I have also tryed the -Large- instalation, and it does the same thing.
While the -Normal- instalation DOES make the game work, the load times are so horrible that it just gets unplayeable (for me anyway)...

/cheer... not.

(How big is the MASTER.dat supposed to be anyway ?)

That's strange...

Is there any dirt or scratches on the cd? Also, you could try to rund ScanDisc on the Fallout 2 -directory to see if any file(s) is/are corrupted...

Something like 320Mt

So, basically there isn't enough info in the file...
And of course, then game dcan't find everything it needs from the file...

Still, I wonder WHY it's so small...?

the full version of master.dat is on the cd, if urs is too small you could try copy and pasting that over. Hope it helps :D
