Female character voices

Is it just a glitch in my game? All the females I have tried (up to yesterday) sound like men when they hurt themselves or when they are hurt in a fight. They grunt. They groan. They sound like men.
It always annoyed me, but I thought that for some inexplicable reason the game creators had just stuck in the same sounds for all characters.

Then, yesterday, I made my first Redguard char, because I thought it was time I played a pure Combat character. And she has a female screech when she is hurt!
Why the devil is it that only the Redguard female has a female voice? And if the Redguard can have a female voice - why the devil can't females of the other races?

As I asked at first: is it only MY game that has this problem, or is it general?

I haven't played all the races, but I think the PC voices were done by a subset of the (already limited) NPC voice actors. My redguard male sounds like the actor who does the NPC male nord voices when he gets hurt. My imperial female makes a definitely not-quite-feminine grunt when injured, but I can't place the voice. In fact, I've noticed the same thing with some female NPCs. Some armor has subtle gender-specific details you can miss in the heat of battle, and I've occasionally thought I was fighting a male NPC based on their grunts & taunts, not noticing she was female until after taking the armor from the body. On the other hand, my high elf male does sound like the male elf NPCs.

It's everyone I think. My character is a female, I always play one, and she does not sound too female at times, but as already mentioned none of the NPCs do at occasion, or should I say female NPCs. What annoys me to no end when it comes to sound is that when you talk to beggers they sound all worn down, as they should and then you switch the subject and bam, I hear the voice of a normal NPC.

Yeah. I do a bit of role-play about that. I pretend they are not really beggars at all but con-men/women who forget and talk in their normal voices.

But thanks, all, for the input. It helps a bit to know it isn't just my game. But it still seems VERY odd that a Redguard alone has a female voice!

Ditto, although I guess I wasn't so much role-playing as just assuming it was intentional - "[beggar shifts gaze and speaks in fake accent] spare a coin for an old war vet... oh, you're with the Grey Fox? [beggar looks PC in the eye and lowers voice] OK, here's the real deal..."

Maybe I'm not as savvy about game development corner-cutting as I thought :)
