Ahdarji's heirloom help

Before i started the quest i had a killing spree in lewayin and killed Hlidara Mothril and i have to talk to her now. Will she reappear or am i screwed?

Although the quest log will say you have to talk to her, you actually don't, if you can figure out where and when to steal the item on your own. I know, because I couldn't find her and when I finally resorted to following the map marker, I found her body in a ditch outside Bravil. Her boss's mom is the Countess of Chorrol and they visit her occasionally. Apparently she got killed by bandits on one of those trips. It's very cool that the NPCs have lives of their own and all, and of course I mourned her loss

but it was pretty inconvenient nonetheless.

Spoiler: the Countess wears the ring, but you can't pickpocket it. You have to wait until she goes to bed and steal it from the jewelry box in her room. And she obviously has to be home - for a few days around the 15th of every month she'll be travelling to Chorrol and back, and you can't steal it then.

Super-Double-Secret Spoiler: this is a heckuva lot easier if you use the secret passage in the castle basement - there's a lever inside a broken barrel that opens it.

Yeah, about that. I didn't find ANY ring in that jewellery box except a gold diamond ring which is worth only 25 gold. There's no adharji's ring... does anyone know what's happenein?

It's a policy here to open new threads, for new questions here. Search the forums, I think it's a known glitch that's been solved, if not open a new thread, we'll figure it out.

Yeah, I had that happen. But I hadn't spoken to Hlidara; so, although I found out where to go on my own, I figured not speaking to her was the reason it wasn't there. Anyway, I re-loaded from a save-game, went to talk to Hlidara, got the info, and did it over again. It worked fine, so I figured it was necessary to talk to her.

Well, besides the advice already given in this thread (spoiler: if the Countess isn't in the room, in bed, the ring won't be in the jewelry box), the only thing I've done every time I finished this quest successfully (besides talking to Skriiva and Ahdarji, obviously) is this (spoiler): talk to Amusei in the castle dungeon.

The following things are not neccessary - I've finished the quest successfully without doing either one (spoiler): talking to Hlidara and/or using the secret passage in the basement.

Well how did i finsh it then? i didn't speak to mothril and i got the ring still?
