Help!! Will the saved games work?

Hi there!!

i hope to get some advice. My PC recently crashed but i've been able to save my precious Torment saved games...so...i got my pc back up and running but when i wanted to reinstall Torment, i discovered to my dismay that CD1 is cracked all the way through and my cd drive is not reading it...I plan to buy the 2CD version of the game as that is all that's available to me...(i have the 4 cd one currently).
I was wondering if my saved games for the 4CD version would work with the 2CD version?

Thank you!!
Any help is much appreciated!!

Sorry I can't give you a definite answer, but here are some suggestions. First of all, make a backup copy of your saved games and then just try them with the 2-CD version to see if they will work. I don't think it will hurt anything.

Second of all, you might try looking for a FAQ for the official version 1.1 patch. The main differences between the 4-CD version and the 2-CD version are 1) the 2-CD version uses a more efficient compression method (that's why the files can fit on two CDs instead of four) and 2) the 2-CD version includes the official 1.1 patch while the 4-CD version is version 1.0. If you applied the 1.1 patch before you started playing the 4-CD version, then you'll be playing the same version of the game when you use the 2-CD set, and I don't see any reason why your saved games wouldn't work. But if you weren't playing the patched version before, there may or may not be a problem. Hopefully a FAQ can tell you the answer.

Good luck!

Heya!!

I finally got my hands on the 2CD version of the game and the saved games worked fine. Had to do a bit of tweaking with the configuration settings thru wordpad to get to see the movies for the bits i've been thru.

There's quite a bit of a lag when my chracter is moving though. Strange, as my system is heaps more that what is recommended for the game. Does anyone have and ideas how to remedy this?

I'm running XP with 32bit graphics.

Cheers
