Who should play who in a BG2 movie?

Post by luz »

If they were to make a BG movie (God, that would be so cool, but I don't see it happening), who do you think should play each character?
Maybe Vin Diesel for Minsc? Kate Hudson for Aerie? Post your thoughts! :)

You have just run naked down my alley sister, and there are few who might contribute to your thread for fear of revealing their age. I will do so shortly, but not before I remind you of the pleasure it was to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy, on the big screen. I am loving the current trend towards making a movie to tell a story, rather than paying major actors several million dollars to carry a bad script. Imagine for a moment..............Lord of the rings...........starring BRAD PITT & ANGELINA JOLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm?

Although Vin Deisel has the bald part down, I just can't picture him as Minsc, too much "edge" IMHO.
So perhaps Michael Chiklis (sp) as Minsc. :D
Kate Hudson would be a good Aerie, or maybe Shannon Elizabeth with her hair dyed blonde.

Nalia's portrait reminds me a little of Drew Barrymore. So that would be my choice there.
Perhaps Charlize Theron as Jaheira, she would have the looks and the hard edge of her character.
Ving Rhames as Valygar.

Well that's a start.

Whoever plays Aerie and Nalia would have to look innocent, ruling out all oozing-sexy girls, what about Kate Beckinsale in one of the parts?

You may also want to refer to these old topics on the same subject from the BG2 Forum:

btw, I hope you don't mind, I have also edited your title to better attract BG2 fans ;)

Nalia - Winona Rider :p

Aerie - Jessica Simpson

Viconia - Jessica Alba (wohooo... be my elf!)

Minsc - Adam Sandler

Edwin - Colin Farrel

Jan Jansen - Joe pesci (from lethal weapon, the small comediance)

Nalia- Has to be Drew Barrymore, that picture was pretty much her with a weird hair-do.

Aerie- Kate Hudson's perfect

Viconia- As much as I love Jessica Alba I don't think she's bitchy enough, I could go with Angelina Jolie (even though I hate her), Rosario Dawson (Sin City-style) or even Beckinsale. I think I like Dawson the best.

Edwin- Tim Curry (I'm sorry, I have to :D :D )

Jan- Verne Troyer (Mini-Me from Austin Powers). Jan isn't a murderous, foul-mouthed Mafioso so Pesci's out. ;)

Valygar- Ving Rhaimes, Michael Clark Duncan or, even better, Wesley Snipes. I'd love to see Samuel L Jackson here but that might be too much. :D
"Yes I hate mages and I hope they burn in hell!" :laugh:

Jaheira- Charlize Theron is also perfect

Yoshimo- Jet Li

That-annoying-Tiefling-Bard-I-can't-stand-and-who's-name-I-never-bothered-to-learn- Somebody just as thoroughly unlikeable... Leonardo Di Caprio or Hayden Christianssen would be just lovely.

Imoen- Winona Ryder

Minsc- Bruce Willis maybe? I think Michael Chiklis would be too edgy too, but I've got nothing.

Jon Irenicus- Alec Guinness or if you get hung up on the whole age-thing (how old is he anyways?) maybe Ed Harris. Harris actually kind of looks like his little in-game picture, but I think Mr. Guinness would be fantastic.

Hmmm, who's left...
"Be thankful you're healthy."
"Be bitter you're not going to stay that way."
"Be glad you're even alive."
"Be furious you're going to die."
"Things could be much worse."
"They could be one hell of a lot better."

You know, I can't stand the two actors you mention above, I'm not wild about said bard... and I actually like Johnny Depp... but I think he could make a good Haer'Dalis. He has that flamboyant, roguish thing going. :D

Hmmm, I did a search before I opened the thread using the words baldur and movie, and only got two threads of people complaining that their game movies didn't work. Guess the search doesn't go far back in time? Anywho, I made a couple of collages to give the idea of actors suggested for different NPCs

Jon Irenicus = David Warner (obviously...)

Saemon = Johnny Depp (perfect)

Sarevok = Micheal Dorn
Yoshimo = Jet Li

Viconia = Hilary Duff

Imoen = Jessica Alba

Keldorn = Colin Farrel, Clint Eastwood

Valygar = Avery Brooks
Edwin- Tim Curry
That would work

Don't know about the rest of them

Hmmm..
I think Jolene Blalock (T'Pol from Startrek Enterprise) could make a good Jaheira.... Check out the similarity in facial structure and in the mouth.

@Luz,
nice collage work there!

For Jon Irenicus it just "has" to be the man behind the voice, David Warner. All through the game I keep thinking of Irenicus as looking like the character "Evil" that Warner played in the movie "Time Bandits". LOTS of similarities. Ed Harris wouldn't be a bad choice either though.

How about the actress/model Iman (David Bowie's wife) as Viconia, or perhaps Tyra Banks?

Johnny Depp would be a great Haer'Dalis.

Tim Curry as Edwin LOL :laugh: He's a great choice if you want Edwin played with humor. Hey, he's even had the experience needed to do the "Edwina" change with his role from Rocky Horror.

Just on looks, Colin Ferrell would definitely fit and be great for a more serious Edwin.

Put a beard on George Clooney and I think you'd have a good Keldorn.

Jessica Alba would be much better as Imoen than Viconia IMHO.

Couple I haven't seen mentioned yet:

One character we seem to all have missed (avoided?) is Anomen. Argh, tough call, maybe Ioan Gruffadd?

I'm stumped so far for Mazzie?!?!

Just checked out the collage, Indeed a great job Iuz!!!

When we did this before, Joseph Fiennes came up as a candidate for Anomen. He looks a bit like the portrait, and he has that whole period Shakespeare in Love role to draw on.

Dustin Hoffman could play a role to, maybe Haer'Dalis (see Hook if you don't believe me!)

Hmmm... I tend to imagine a more youthful actor for Haer'Dalis. Though, that is obviously very subjective ;)

Hmm, good choice. He does indeed bear a bit of a resemblance.

edit:
Oh yes, good call on Jolene Blalock too. Forgot all about her.

I suppose most everyone thinks that the cast should be young, but most of the ... better actors are older. Youth can always be faked anyways ;)

Jolene Blalock would be a nice choice, she has that wisdom and arrogance thing going on... perfect :D

Johnny Depp would be ok at Haer'Dalis but who would play Saemon? I suppose he could play both roles, good actors can do that.

Another important character

Who would be Bodhi? Can't believe we haven't thought of someone for her yet. Kirsten Dunst did the vampire thing but not sure she is right.

Kate Moss on a coke bender maybe?

Whoever said Hillary Duff as Viconia... Please explain, that makes no sense to me whatsoever. :confused: I am sorry, but Rosario Dawson must be in one of these roles... She can play anything. I love her as Viconia but I could see her as Bodhi too, considering the fact that I don't think Kate Moss has ever acted before.

The only thing I have against Johnny Depp playing Saemon is how cliche'd and type-cast that'd be.
