Closing Kvatch Gate for Savlian Matius *spoilers*

I have gone all through the tower, got to the top, took the sigil stone, there were some flashes of light, shaking, but I was still in the same place and the gate was not closed. What did I do wrong?

Do you have the stone in your inventory?
If not, that may be the reason. But it sounds like a glitch to me. Go back to your save from just before you took the stone (you DO save just before critical points, don't you?), and try again.

Yes, I have the stone in my inventory and I did save at the critical point and I did try it over several times. I guess it is a glitch in the game or my computer. Thanks.

Damn. I don't know what else to suggest. I expect there is a cheat/console command that will fix it, but I don't know how to do that.
I suppose you don't have a separate normal save (as opposed to a quicksave) from before you entered the building?
