Runtime error in Brynnlaw

I guess the Edwin problem I mentioned in another thread doens't matter anymore, as my game refuses to go to Spellhold from Brynnlaw. The Loading screen will begin, then the game crashes to desktop and I get an error message saying
Runtime Error!
Program: C;/Program Files/ Black Isle/ BGII-SoA/BGMain.exe
Abnormal program termination

Anyway to fix this?

Have you patched the game?...

The game's been patched since I first started playing it. I tried uninstalling while keeping saves and reinstalling, but it's not helping,. I still get the runtime error.

If I remember correctly a Runtime error is when a piece of code enters a loop it can't escape from. So at some point your computer is trying to find something whether it be an item, person or variable in your BG game and it's non-existent.

It usually happens during a badly tested mod but I've had it happen numerous times (across different programs) and I think it's more to do with Windows.

First I'd consider thinking about the way your mods are installed, since in your other thread the ones you have sound iffy. Secondly try a scandisk and Defragment but the only way I've been able to reduce Runtime errors is formatting.

Erm, how do you format?

Don't bump. Your thread hasn't been knocked off the first page in any case, and you're just pulling people in when you haven't got anything useful to add. Repeatedly doing this will cause you to lose your posting privileges.

You do understand that a format is potentially a complete loss of all information on your computer?

If so here's a link for you to look at.

It was almost at the very bottom of the first page. I was stopping it from hitting the second page and reminding people that I had an unanswered question. Threatening posters just trying to get answers and help is very rude.

They're our forums, and our rules. And it wasn't a threat, it was a simple statement of fact. I don't think you'd like to find your privileges to post withdrawn without knowing why it happened.

If you feel you need to continue this discussion, send me a personal message. But I should tell you in advance that this has been standard GameBanshee policy for 6 years, as has been the way we tell people who forget the forum rules they agreed to when signing on. ;)

Ok, I found a way around it. I just went through the crazy talk with the Pirate Lord. I'm sad I missed that talk in the first place- it was hilarious! Misnc! Meet the Pirate Lord!
