Back in Curst

I was told that if I edit the blood handkerchief and the unfolding portal that I could go back to curst because I missed Vailore but everytime I try to get there the game keeps on freezing up and takes me back to where I first started. I only get a few steps before it freezes and goes back to where I started. Is this a glitch anyone else has experienced. If so, maybe there is a patch for it?
