Need help with Ahdarji's Heirloom (spoilers)

*spoilers*
A long time ago I did Sanguines quest. It ended with the guards chopping down half the household in their skivvies, much to my amusement. However, as I'm doing Ahdarji's Heirloom (4 TG quest) now, it seems I need to talk to the maid - the late maid... Her rotting corpse offer little in the ways of assitance even with lots of sweetalking.
So, I try to do it on my own. I sneak up to the countess and find no ring, but she does have a jewelry box key. I locate the jewelry box, open it and still now ring. I check a walkthrough and sure enough, the countess is supposed to wear the ring at all times except when she sleeps. At night she's supposed to put it in her jewelry box.
In other words it seems I MUST talk to that maid to learn the location of the ring before it actually shows up in that location... Any known workarounds for this? Is it possible to somehow resurrect NPCs? And I don't care if it's a full blown cheat either. If the game is broken, it needs fixing no matter how it's achieved.
thanks

That happened to me and the only why I found to deal with it was to reload an old save or start a new game.

I hadn't done Sanguine's quest, but I had a similar problem - I went to the castle, no maid. Checked my map, went to the marker, and there was the maid's body, laying dead in a ditch beside the road outside Bravil. I have no idea how or when she died, maybe killed by bandits when she was out taking a walk or something. Anyway, after much talking to the countess and sneaking around following her with no luck, I found a secret passage in the castle basement to the royal chambers. There was a guard making his rounds, so I timed his movements, broke into her bedroom, and the ring was in her jewelry box.
Two possibilities come to mind: 1) I've heard that talking to the countess about the ring triggers the ring to be in her jewelry box when she sleeps. 2) It's possible that sneaking into her room through the secret passage instead of through the main private quarters entrace triggers it.
If all else fails, and you're playing on the PC, you can use a console code:
player.additem 00035e95 1

Hey, I think I figured out why the maid was in a ditch by Bravil. I had started a new character and was doing the quest, everything seemed normal, except the maid and countess were nowhere to be found in Leyawin. So I look at the map in the quest log, and lo and behold, they're in Chorrol. Then I remember one of those cutscene pages saying that the count of Leyawin's new bride, the countess of Leyawin, is the daughter of the countess of Chorrol. So, I guess the countess was visiting her mom in Chorrol. So I imagine in my last game, they were making the same trip and got attacked by bandits around Bravil, and the maid got killed. That's a crazy level of NPCs having lives of their own completely unrelated to the player's story. This game simply never ceases to amaze me.

The PC console codes are pretty arbitrary; they will let you add items that have been destroyed in game, or even let you have multiple copies of unique items. Just hit the tilde key (~), type in the code you mentioned above, and hit the tilde key again to get out of console mode. The ring should now be in your inventory. If you go to Ahdarji and you don't have a dialog option to talk to her about the ring, you might also need the following code to set the quest to the next stage so she'll talk to you:
player.setstage TG04Mistake 60
I've never run into the conflict between the heirloom quest and the Sanguine quest, but if you're on the 360 you might be out of luck unless you have a save game from before the ring was destroyed.
