Help! I've just done the Arrow of Extrication quest for the Grey Fox, and by killing Fathis Aren, I've been thrown out of the MG.

Raminus said I need to bring him 20 Vampire dust and 20 daedra hearts... is there anywhere I can get any of this without either being blown to bits or going in all the Oblivion Gates?

Anyone got any advice for poor old ickle me?

You only need to bring him 20 vamp. dusts OR 20 daedra hearts. I got kicked out for the same reason, it took me all of 4 Gates to get my hearts.

It does say '20 daedra hearts and 20 vampire dust'...

Are you saying that I only need to take either one of the 20s, instead of both, and he just says that is enough or something?

Well I think it's both, but in order to save time you could just do the arrow/item clone glitch. It takes the fun out of the game a little bit, but if you don't have time to go through like 5 oblivion portals and countless caves to find the vampires, then it's definitely worth using.

What is the arrow/item clone glitch? Does it work on Xbox 360, or is it just a PC cheat?

It works for the Xbox, don't know about the pc, but it goes like this, you equip you bow and knock your arrow, then you go into your inventory and equip another set of arrows and then when you do that you hit A again on the set of arrows you just equiped and you'll be told you can't change your weapon when your attacking, then you drop which ever item you wish to be multiplied (Items like nirnroot wont work), the item will multiply depending on the amount of arrows in the set you equiped (So if you have 10 arrows you get ten of the item).

Not a great explaination really  , and be carfull when cloning things, the game may not be able to handle say 700 of a certain item.

And you do only need one set of either the hearts or the dust, as the very same thing happened to me.

Actually you don't even need two sets of arrows, one will do just fine. You just draw your bow, set the arrow, got to your inventory, click to drop the arrows you currently have, and after it says you can't do that just go to the item and drop that. It's easier to do than having to do the one with multiple arrows(I could never get that one to work)

I learned it with 2 sets, so I find it easiest that way

Man, you guys are spooky. How in Dog's name do you find these things? Is there a special "Easter Egg Society" that I don't know about? This will be a heck of a lot more efficient than using the ingredients chest in the Arch-Mages sanctuary.

Yes, it's all a conspiracy that we didn't want you to know about. You caught us.

Ok, serious now, I have a friend that told me to do it with two sets of arrows, but I decided to do a little experimenting and do it with only one set of arrows, and it worked pretty good. But either way you do it, you can't make multiples of certain items, such as Nirnroot and powerful weapons and armor. Regular weapons work fine though. It's an easy way to make a lot of money too...just multiply the item that you have that costs the most.

Yah, it is kinda weird that this is know to everyone but i guess that millions playing the game SOMEBODY had to acendentally have that happen to them.

Anyhow, this does or dosen't work on the PC?

Not that i'd cheat or anything:angel:

I really have no idea whether or not it works on the pc, I have it for the 360, so not much I can help you with there. I'm sure theres a duplication code or mod somewhere for the pc, its just a matter of finding it.

shnap.
im doing this quest right now.
i just joined the mg a little while ago.
is there any way around getting kicked out of the mg and completing this quest? ex. not killing the dude.
or is it worth it for his drops?

plus, where is a good spot to collect the 20?

thanks

The arrow is in a chest that Fathis Aren owns however the container, when highlighted with the cursor, has a white opening cursor, so your allowed to open it and take its goods, so all you really have to do is run from him and his guardians.

I'd say the best place to get them would be in an oblivion gate, or you could just get one and duplicate it.

oh cool.

i was reading about duping. it didnt work for me
i pulled out my bow, readied my arrows..unequipped/dropped the arrows (said i coulndt) then i dropped an item, but nothing happened..i tried on different types of items

(im on the 360)

can u give a clearer explanation of how to do this? thank you.

What item were you trying to make a copy of? Not all items can be duplicated.

I ran into the same problem. I was trying to duplicate an apple as a test case, and when I dropped the apple and fired the arrow, I got - an apple. As in one. As in the one I dropped. I must be missing something.

Go through the whole procdure you used, you may have made a mistake somewhere

BTW If your going to clone clothes, of any kind, you should be carefull to do somewhere isolated like in the water, if you do it on land in a city your game may freeze - Speaking from personal experiences.
And as far as I know you Can't clone stolen items.
Human Skin never worked for me, Nirnroot doesn't, Quest items won't obviously because you cant drop them, (The rose of sithis does however), Sigil stones can be cloned - Very usefull if you find one that enchants chameleon, and I'm sure there are other Items that don't work.

I tried it on a potion, an armor piece...a couple other things, it was a day or two ago.

I don't even know the procedure I took. I tried a lot of different things because none of them were working.
I pushed "x" to pull out my bow, equipped arrows, held down "r"; pushed "b". Tried to de-equip/drop the equipped arrows. It said I couldn't, then I dropped test items. and went back to the game, just the individual item itself dropped. I picked it back up and laughed at myself.

What am i doing wrong?
Thanks.
