On Cheating

I've been reading through some of the forum questions, and when I see someone with a simple question that can be solved by making a trip to the nearest shop, people will tell him to type in commands to merely make the item appear. Am I the only one who plays Oblivion COMPLETELY legitimately? Please tell me I'm not.
EDIT: I understand that in some cases, using console commands is required, especially with the Elder Scrolls' games reputation for bugs and problems. Also, I get that it's a lot easier to play legitimately when you have the game on 360 (like myself).
As for Mods, I find them legitimate unless they overpower your character, i.e increasing stats etc. Any mods out there that fix some of the bugs of the game are fine in my book, though even if I played on PC I wouldn't download them.
Thanks for not flaming when you have an opinion other than mine, by the way.

Your not, I do, but then again I have it for the 360. Even if I had it for pc I wouldn't cheat, it takes the fun out of the game.

I play legit, but I think you're being a little unfair in many of those cases the person is "cheating" because of a glitch that is making a quest impossible. I don't consider it cheating if your doing it to get around a glitch and I wouldn't hesitate to do so if I was in a situation like that.

I guess that depends upon your definition of legitimately.:mischief:
I'll readily admit to using player.additem, mostly to get 0000000f, but I feel a pang of guilt when I do. I'll also use tg. I won't use tgm.
Maybe you ARE the only one who hasn't used a console command. (XBOX excluded)
And what about using mods? Are they legit? Does it depend which mod you use? Lots of room for argument there too.
And just for the record: even after using the console...it's still fun!

I have never used a console command in any game - Oblivion, Morrowind, or any other. The only time I would consider doing so is if there was a glitch I could not fix.

Check it out, XxblitzkriegxX, you're not alone. Some unlawful gamers play Lawful Good characters. Some Lawful Good gamers play unlawful characters. The spectrum has boundaries filled with an infinite variety and depth of colors.

I don't cheat. I don't see the point of cheating your way through a game, because you only get to the end of the game, you don't BEAT it by your own efforts.
But I can understand if a person has a bug in the game that they can't get round by legitimate means (such as reloading an earlier save, or deciding not to do that particular Quest - which is impossible in Main Quest), and so uses a cheat as a last resort.
Myself, if it happened to me, I would start over; but I know some people couldn't bear to do that.
Indiscriminate cheating, though, it seems to me, would take all the joy out of a game.

Well indiscriminate cheating would take the fun out of it, I agree but some people do it. Though I've noticed usually those are the people who have no patience/sense of strategy etc, but just want to get through the game. I know that it can sometimes be annoying in some aspects so I don't care if people use a cheat here and there. I personally try to go through the game as clean as possible but I have used mods from the word go in this case for some things.
And indeed Gobatcha has a point? That's a discussion on its own right - are they cheating or not? I had a safe chest in every guild from, well almost the beginning, of the game. I don't think so but it is worth discussing.
And of course I am all for using the console to get rid of the pesky bugs that shouldn't have been there in the first place but are, since it's a new game and all, quite expected. I use TES CS for that.

This "cheating" thread has appeared in several forums, from several players--and it comes down to the same thing: you bought the game, you can do with it what you want. Any further discussion is a matter of stating one's personal preferences, sometimes angrily (though not here, not yet), to no advantage for anybody.
