I am level 6 and am still using the Raimant I received as the Arena grand champion. Can anyone tell me a good place to find better armor?

actually what I noticed is that if you have a full suit of armor of anything else even if you have a lower armor rating its better then the stuff from the arena because it covers less. No idea why but I always got less damage from the full suits of whatever besided the arena armor

Personally I'm running around in the Black Hand gear I got from the Dark Brotherhood, no armor at all, but nice enchantstats. My way of gaming is trying not to get hit in the first place

If you are melee though, you'll find free armor sets from regular mobs once you've lvled up a bit.
Keep playing and it will keep coming new stuff to wear.

you could also buy it you know, or for something more creative engage a legonnaire (that is talk to him) with a big creature nearby, like a spriggan or a black bear. If the creature kills him, you then finish off the creature and nab his armor, free of murder charges. It's equivalent to steel armor. good luck if you try it.

If you're playing on a PC, you can run G_'s Loot mod, in its unscaled version. That provides loot in chests and on enemies that's roughly similar to Morrowind: iron and steel pop up a lot, fur a bit less, with finer materials showing up in very small and ever decreasing quantities the higher up you go. So you do stand a chance of getting something nice--perhaps a couple of pieces per dungeon, and usually on the body of a local boss. My current level 5 character, for example, killed a bandit chieftain wearing a golden mithril cuirass, and mithril boots, though everything else he had on was standard issue; and so was everything else in the dungeon.
