Guys - I could use some help :-)
Just started TLC and am confused on the "combat multiplier(CM)" and the Hero Save.
My options page only shows World Save ? ... I'd like to replay those key areas = at least, one tip said: "the keys will reappear" if I use the Hero Save ???
The voice keeps saying to raise my CM ... a door won't let me in till I do
My best is 7 ... that's pitiful ... yet, I have won most fights without needing to heal ... sometimes I'll beat 3-5 enemies and still the CM won't go above 5 or so
Am I suppose to win without taking a scratch ?
Or, win and take a beating ?

I've been using fireball OR Slow Time + Multi-Strike.

My last finished quest was the trader escort ...yes, that rock throwing beast whooped me till I found the "sweet spot" where the rocks missed me :-)

Next up; bandit camp-seer quest.

Right now, I'm just running around killing any red dot.
I'm trying to get the hang of the keyboard/mouse fighting .... physicslly disabled/limited manual dexterity
So, I'd like to buff up my character = I can't do the "circle strafe; dodge shoot" thing.
I'm looking for any advice/tips/help on how to play this game :-)
I'm going ranged + area killing spells & slow time/multi hit route ... think it fits my physical limitations

At least I hope I can make it through TLC.

Ok, first of, Hero Save only shows up during a quest, it saves your stats and items, but not your position in the world. If you load a hero save, you'd have to redo that particualr quest.

If you want to raise your CM, a good idea is to get the spell "Physical Shield", so that if you are attacked, it doesn't drain your CM.

About that "the keys will reappeare" if you use the hero save trick, it means, if there are any silver keys in an area during a quest, you can get it, then hero save and load your game, so that you'd have the silver key, and a "copy" of it would be back where it was before you got it. This doesn't work with world save, seeing as world save actually saves the condition the world was in

As Matt9148 said, the best way to get your CM up is to have physical shield up. Everytime you take damage, you lose CM and with physical shield you dont take damage, your mana takes it for you.

As to the door, i recomend the knob cave nearby and got down past the 1st section. Kill everything there, then move up the floor kill some more, go outside and kill everything there. You need to do this because everytime you pass through an area your CM drops by about 9.

your CM drops by half every time you enter a region

Just to clarify, when you move between areas, your CM will drop by half. So if you have a CM of 20 inside the cave, when you get outside it will be 10.

And once you start using Physical Shield your CM will go up significantly and you should find combat much easier.

Guys - ok; Physical Shield it is :-)
Can I still fit in all my spells ... how many do you guys max out ?

My preferences based on the charts/my limitations......>
Pure Spells:
* ranged - Lightning
* area - Enflame

Melee:
* Slow Time
* Multi Strike

I'll add Physical Shield.

*** Can I max them all ?
Do you guys dislike any of the choices ... would you substitute another (... if so; why) ***

Please tell me there are no Timed or Dodge quests that are imperative to finish :-)
I couldn't even beat that 50sec Demon Door quest ... missed by 5-10 sec

I really appreciate your help !
GameBanshee forums are the best = I use you guys extensively to get through these RPG's

This game is difficult for me, as the battles are frenetic.... I have to hunt & peck at keys when I should be looking at the screen :-)
Seems the extensive use of the keyboard means this game must of been designed for Xbox ? ... I did ok in Diablo LoD and both Star Wars games (KOTOR & KOTOR 2) = much easier UI due to the reliance on the mouse

Hi Joe05,

Your range of spells are quite ok, though you may need more spells like Battle Charge as it will hit anyone close to you when you use it.

Also, its best to use Slow time in the process as you will have a chance of getting a higher combat multiplier by killing more enemies plus when you move around, the combat multiplier will decrease at a slower rate when Slow Time is applied giving you more combat multiplier when you head to the next stage.

Took me quite a number of tries before managing to get the right amount of Combat Multipliers to open that Demon Door near the Hobbe cave.

Hope this helps :) .

DesR85 - I'll give it a try.
I went through the cave a few times ... best I could do was CM of 9

I just made it "all the way" to Twinblade tent and couldn't get the key from the guard ?
He's in Green, and when I Slowed + Mutli Strike, he never noticed ?
I came here to check the walkthrough and the game crashed ... just wasted over 2 hours ... I'm back outside that darn entrance hole

No mention here how to get the key to create an escape diversion ... I'm not paying 2,000 :-)
Then I'm sure I'll have to fight Twinblade ... I'm sure I'll lose and be right back "you know where".

The save system in TLC stinks :-)

just a little tip when it come to fighting.. roll a lot! wait for the attack, roll away, hit with the sword, wait for attack, roll away etc. works on bosses!

Err... you will know when you highlight this part:
You know the guard guarding the prisoners, right? Target that guy and whack his butt out. The key is on his body. Use it to free them.

About that cave, it took me a couple of tries until I managed to get a CM of 14 or 12 just to get through the door.

And yes, I agree with you Joe05, about the save system. Hero save is what I hate the most.

Just kill the guy with the key. Use your spacebar if on PC or attack with an arrow. Then you will be able to "go hostile" against him. Twinblade is really easy. He seems invulnerable if you attack straight up and he does a ton of damage. if you use slow time all of the time and hit him in the back with your melee weapon you won't take a scratch. You just need several will potions. It may be unsporting, but it works extremely well. You can also kill off his minions before Twinblades health gets low, so they can't mob you.

Guys - thanks !
Appreciate all the help.
Will make another run this morning.

Oh, why doesn't the Merchant open his door ?
I went through 3 day-night cycles and his door never opens ... how can I buy a shovel to complete the Ghost Quest.
I looked at the walkthrough = the Merchant is across from the Weapons trader ... he has a bag over his shop
Did I flirt too much :-) ... maybe I hit on his wife ? ... can I bash the door in ?

I might have to start over ... I don't see new game, so I guess I'll have to delete all saves ?

This game is killing me .. up till 4am; got up at 8am .. not good for my health :-)

Guys - your help paid off big time :-)
Only 3+hrs, but I finished the Bandit Camp Quest ... to give you guys some laughs: took me 25min/ 7 deaths to beat Twinblade ... even using Slow Time + Multi-Strike
My hands + keyboard don't work well together = I happened to get lucky and he had his blades stuck twice ... I just kept running around like a fool to charge up and pray I was behind him

Anyways, I'm in Oak? ... just wowing the ladies :-)
Not sure what to do next .. they all like me(big hearts), but none turn green = guess they aren't "available" :-)

Got my CM up into the teens, but I gave up on the door and bought a big weapon(142 damage) in Oak?

Just wanted to say thanks = look like we can continue
I like the house/shop threads = since I don't have the $, guess we try and kill a few owners ? ... maybe I'll finally get a lady :-)

That Demon Door has the lengendary cleaver Cutlass Bluetane behind it.
It's weight is light:speech: , has lightning augmentation:speech: and 165 damage:speech: so don't give up on the door it's worth it(in my opinion).
