Full suits versus, umm.. parts.

Hiya once again.

Full suits like the ones you get at the arena have a fixed armor rating, like fourteen for the valor suit. What exactly does this mean, do the bodyparts (legs, feet, torso, arms and hands) all have the same value of 14, or is that just the accumulated rating of all the 'parts' added up together? I'm asking because I also have a nice Blade armor. If I add up the ratings of the individual Blade armorpieces, I get a slightly higher rating (2+2+2+4+something or other). Then again, if full-suit armor has the same average rating for all parts, the Blade armor isn't even going to get close to it.

The full suits of armor represent the cumulative armor rating of every 'armor slot' - not an average, I think. I'm basing this on the fact that arena armor doesn't offer greater protection than steel, even though it quotes a higher AR value than the steel or Blade cuirass.

You can see which armor is the more effective by checking out your armor rating when equipped, rather than noting each individual piece - its next the amount of gold you have on the inventory screen.

For your conveniance however, the Blade armor does indeed offer better protection than the Arena armor. On my character with 55ish Heavy Armor skill he received 11 protection from the arena armor, and 15 from the Blade cuirass, gauntlets, greaves and boots.

So save the arena armor for the arena ;)

Well, I never noticed that indicator, thanks. :)
