Ok, I have a fame of 63 and a infamy of 49 and I am having trouble with a lot of people just not likeing me, and the guards are ALWAYS following me around, I have no bounty or nothing. just wondering about this because when I killed people for the dark brotherhood and did stuff for the thieves guild I haven't gotten caught yet and I don't get why people would know about all the bad stuff I've done when no one witnessed it or anything.

probably just a low personality...use charm spells or work on your speechcraft and ppl will like you...and do quests for the townsfolk, they love u afterard....just my 2 cents

i have finished both thieves and the dark brotherhood guilds and i've never really had an issue with anyone, and i have vampirism (which sucks) besides. what is your personality stat at? i just suggest going through the "persuade" cycle when you want someone to like you more. obviously you can't persuade everyone in the game so i suggest just getting important characters and people you barter with at a higher stat.

I've gotten about everyone I can to there max that I can at the point though the personality cycle. But sometimes they still tell me to go away and everything. I've worked on my personality since the begining of the game and I don't remember what it is but it's not low at all. I've done all the DB quests and I'm on the last TG quest and have done a lot of the town quests. But about half the people still tell me to leave them alone. One thing I've noticed though is when I have my Armor of Valor on from the arena they all talk to me, so is it maybe because I have the DB armor on all the time and they just don't like that???

A high infamy level is said to be a drag on relations with "good" people. Can't say I've tested that, however.

What is considered a high infamy level though? I did every one of the DB quests without anyone seeing me so how did everyone know that I killed the people or that I stole whatever for the thieves guild? What do you guys have for infamy levels???

All I am saying is that infamy, like fame, spreads around on its own, due to the simplistic mechanism used for its dissemination in the game. Consequently, you don't have to be seen to acquire a reputation, good or bad, and the bad one puts off folks.
You could always try SetPCInfamy on the console, but I have no idea how that will impact your game.

infamy does make them angry
just an advice if you want to check how infamy works, put on the thiefs guild headpiece, that will give quite a lot of infamy. it will fortunatly stay with the headpiece theught(if you take it of they will like you again)

The meddling with the console won't affect your game negatively, but make it easier. A friend got stuck with a bug thanks to the cowl, it was stuck at 104!, so he got it back to single digits thanks to the cheat. It is fine now.

I beleive wearing the dark brotherhood gear does affect how most people react to you. And wearing the gladiators raiment may affect things i am not too sure, one thing that i have noticed is that some people in the game are just rude lol, the guards say snide things about me when they walk by but when i talk to them they are like " good day citizen" and the evil wince turns to a smile, but in most normal cases i think its just an NPCs personality lol.

The NPC's in oblivion are kind of twisted....they will yell and tell you to go away but if you walk up to them and spark a convo....there all smiles and hug's.....its almost like they have no soul at all

It's called "considered a minor detail when you've got to get a product out the door on time."

What you or I would find a major reality-breaker in the game has been judged of little importance by its developers. I found it especially strange when one of the Fighter Guild members was friendly and amiable until he got to give my character quests. Then, he suddenly scowled and uttered endless insults. This multiple personality syndrome seems to affect quite a few people in Cyrodil.
As for infamy, all I can suggest is using the console key, above. Perhaps the forthcoming fix will deal with the problem, but I wouldn't count on it.
