Do I or do I not need the block skill to become better at parrying attacks with my bare hands? I can't equip shields that way (well, you can but you don't see them) and the (dutch) manual mentions the blocking skill is used so you get better at using shields. That may just be a loose translation or something, but who knows.

See I do think I once saw my block-skill improve after blocking an attack with my bare hands. I didn't really take note of it and it was a few days ago so I might as well be mistaken. I have looked around on the Oblivion Yellow Pages, but I couldn't find anything that covered this. Anyone?

The block skill covers all blocking/parrying done in the game. Doesn't matter if you're using your hands, an axe or a two-hander. You don't have to have your shield equipped to gain bonus in block. Blocking with hands or parrying with a weapon also increases the skill.

I see. I forgot it also works for two-handers, so I guess you're right about the other thing. I'm creating a new character atm so I guess I'll find out soon enough. Yup, thanks.
