Fighter can be Shadow Lord

I had a Fighter/marauder and became Shadow lord. Possibly any class can be SL?

Yep, any class can take Shadow Lord if they meet the SL reqs and haven't committed to another 3rd tier class already.

I'm wondering why SL always goes in the last slot. I take it that is the third tier slot.

Yep, it's a thrid tier class, even though its pretty crappy in so far as learning bonuses and new skills are concerned. I hear that the Diabolic skill Shadow Lord is pretty weak too.

if the shadow lord skill is anything like what Nauselom used durning my fight with him than it is weak. Durning my fight with him he would fade out but I had no problem hitting him.
